Description

Trade to any team looking to add picks/prospects and has the space to take on Loui. Pretty much all the other bad contracts on this team become inconsequential if they can dump the two year deal of Eriksson without retention. It will allow another value depth signing or two for this season and clear vital space for 2021's extensions to Petey, Hughes, Demko, Gaudette, etc. This option keeps about $30.5 million in cap space to sign ten players next year, even with Ferland still on the payroll (not LTIRetired).

I REALLY hope Benning is shopping this around right now to all rebuilding teams. With the flat cap and revenues dropping I'm betting there will be even fewer willing cap-dump trade partners next year, unless they can strike a deal with Seattle. Also, factoring in the steal that VAN got in the Schmidt trade, giving up some valuable assets to get rid of a dead weight contract becomes a bit more palatable.

Not sure who does it, but I think it will end up being DiPietro and a 1st to move him, and I see it happening at the deadline.

Or bury Eriksson this season, don't sign Hamonic (he's not gonna bring much honestly) and trade Eriksson next offseason when he has only a year left or pay Seattle to take him

I think theres huge challenges to trading Louie and they wont be able to pull it off. His contract is an absolute disaster..

#1. He has a 15 team no trade list and I think he is holding the Canucks hostage with it.. Pick the only 15 teams with space to take him and the Canucks are screwed.

#2 This forces the Canucks to find a trading partner where they can trade a 1st with Louie but also be forced to take equal salary back with a 1 year term.

Because of these two things I believe the only option for the Canucks will be to pay Seattle to take him.. Which may cost the team a lot and come back to bite the Canucks in the ass.

I have my money on him being bought out after this season.
