This is why people get annoyed with Leafs fans. First off I wouldnt trade Kakko for Stamkos one for one considering age, cap hit and durability. But you Expect the Rangers to give up Fox who is on his way to being a #1 defensemen and Kakko plus a 1st and a 2nd for 4 years of Matthews. It makes no sense for the Rangers I dont care how badly we need another C especially one who will most likely leave when the contract is up. How about a 3rd for Nylander while we r at it

I have been thinking about this trade and I love everything about it... NYR get a superstar 1C. Tampa gets cap space, young talent and picks. Toronto gets scoring center and young Dman that completely changes the makeup of the blue line. I think all three fan bases will feel robbed which means the value is probably close to fair. Excellent stuff.

Sure, if Toronto is playing the long game, there is an argument that KK, Fox and picks would be preferable. Depends if you want to take a win-now approach or play more patient. I'd still love to see a blockbuster, three-way trade like the proposal. As an hockey fan there isn't enough major roster shaping through trade.
