This teams still in deep deep trouble. Barzal will cost about twice as much if I had to guess.

How do you feel about the pulock deal? I feel like it’s a very underwhelming deal for NYI. I figured they likely could have gotten him for 3-4 years at 5m. This just walks him to FA. Hopefully jets get a shot at him in FA wink

It’s atrocious. Pulock is fantastic, I love the guy, but he must’ve smacked Lou around Long Island to get a deal like this. I figured he’d get 1-2 mil more, but on a long term deal. If he’s walking to FA I would’ve liked 1-2 years lower. I think arbitration might’ve been the better route tbh

I was shocked to see Lou hand out a deal like this to be honest. It’s awful, walks your best dman to FA for a price that you likely could have paid on a 3-4 year deal...

Exactly, GM of the year my ass. I thought he had a reputation of a “master negotiator” or something. He’d probably do well as a player agent for hockey players over the age of 35

Haha we are minus Brown and a first round pick because of stupid Lou. GM of the year. Ya right.

Gotta give Dubai credit he bit the bullet and managed to clean up the mess. Lou’s procrastinating like a 7th grader with a project in a week

Well I like the idea of trading Komarov with some picks/prospects to a team with space (NSH, ANA, etc.). His cap hit and real money situation would be more manageable than Boychuk's would be. That would free up enough to sign Barzal, but if the rumors about Greene and Martin are true, we need about another $2 million for them and even then that's only a 21 man roster, which isn't ideal. So I think one of two things will happen:

1. Ladd goes to LTIR, all of our problems are solved

2. Martin and Greene are told to get lost unless they each take $700k and we replace them with prospects making closer to league minimum than they will (which should've happen in the first place)

They will not lose Barzal, but how they get to the point where they can sign him is still unclear. One interesting idea is going over the cap until the season starts and then putting Ladd on LTIR once we know what's going on. Hopefully that's what they're planning for and the hold up is just negotiating a deal with Barzal.

Gonna be tough. I think best option could be to move out Leddy, but they'd probably have to take someone's cap hit back.

I'm a Sens fan and I will love Pageau until the day I die but I questioned the move for NYI right away.

- Trading a 2020 1st + 2nd which could be used in a cap dump for a 3C
- Knowing Barzal will need to get paid $7M+, but still sign Pageau $5Mx6 while having a really good 2C in Nelson and a good 3b/4 in Cizikas.
- Since Barzal won Calder in 2018, he's signed Lee ($7M till 36), Nelson ($6M till 34), Pageau ($5M till 34), Eberle ($5.5M till 34), Komarov ($3M till 35) and Bailey was signed Feb 2018 ($5M till 34).

Would’ve been much better to trade Leddy and keep Toews, but Lou and Barry for some reason have an obsession w him. I’ve questioned almost every contract Lou has signed besides Lehner and Nelson

Tho some Leaf fans will say Lou would have negotiated Matthews, Marner, Nylander into better contracts lol.

Nylander s contract is good lol, Matthews contract is kinda rich but he’s worth it and I doubt Lou could’ve done better. Only one I kinda agree w is Marner

I gotta say, at first I hated Dubas, but for the first two years he was just cleaning up a mess from Lou I've now concluded, so he should't be blamed for the Maurleu trade. The Kadri trade and the overpays for Marner (which is only an overpay now, maybe not later) and Tavares were his only mistakes. This offseason he's been nothing short of unbelievable. Lou... well...

With everything that has come out with how Marner and Babcock got along, Lou not giving out rookie bonuses, Dubas was behind the eight ball in negotiations with Marner IMO

The four guys Toronto is paying a lot for are the four guys you want to pay a lot for.
