So you get two full clauses waived and then you still have to way underpay cirelli and Cernak?

Why exactly would Florida even consider this? They won’t

Seems too ambitious to do anything more with the TB scenario than stabilize it honestly, acquiring good extra significant $ assets almost seems impossible

Cirelli had his contract whittled to a nub here

I admire the idea and effort but it's just brutal

Acquiring a potential HOFer with term helps them legitimize their franchise that needs it badly and they have the cheap depth to offset the $ returned

Not saying it's ideal whatsoever

But the are clear arguments to be made for it

Florida doesn't have the cap space to add $13.5M to their roster between Stamkos and Johnson, Both Florida and Tampa pass.

they both sign 2-year bridge deals that are fair based on past comparables.

yes they do. I did this from FLA's side and they could afford it, albeit with a 20 man roster.

TB wins because they find a solution to getting under the cap and getting rid of a player they tried to give away for free (Johnson) and a player they won the cup without (Stamkos).
FLA wins because they can roll out a top 6 of Huberdeau, Barkov, Hornqvist, Stamkos, Johnson and Acciari/Hinostroza. This puts them in the upper half of the Eastern conference.

I gotta see the comparables that say a guy who was 11th than 4th Selke voting and his point totals is worth that little. That's nuts

And a top 4 Rd signing for under 2 mil.

Both as Cup winners?
