U forgot to add Barzal to the Islanders trade
Zajac isn't worth that much
I wouldn't sign Hoffman to a 7 year deal for 7.25 mil

Zajac is a cap dump, you need to pay to get rid of him, better to just keep him. If you’re intent to trade him, add a decent prospect and don’t expect anything back.

That’s not true. He had several suitors at the TDL this past season and told Fitz he didn’t want to go anywhere.

I’ll rephrase, it’s a cap dump if he goes to Ottawa.

He’s still a decent player, but he’s 35 and makes too much for his on ice contributions.

It’s better if the Devils keep him. I didn’t go further earlier, but it’s better if they keep him because he’s a lifelong Devil, and there’s only 1 year left on that contract. He can resign for a more appropriate amount next season, maybe retire a Devil. There’s no need to trade him. If the OP is determined to trade him, then the destination team’s situation, and needs, have to be considered. Ottawa isn’t a good destination.

That makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. He did a really nice job sheltering Hughes last season and is still very good in the dot and in his own zone. While having him at 5.75 is ugly, he’s one heck of a mentor and solid defensively.

Only place I can see Fitz trading him to is WPG since he’s from there. Not sure if he fits a need there though.
