Not terrible not great. I mean if the Rangers keep him glued to Panarin then he'll keep putting up numbers and will build value. Some GM out there next season maybe willing to take a gamble on him or the Rangers trade him at the TDL the year he's going to hit UFA status. He needs another strong season with Panarin and then someone will bite on him in the final year of his deal.

its a very moveable TDL contract as well, based on the Arb ask of 5.7m this is probably best case scenario for the Rangers in terms of Expansion Draft bait or TDL value

A bit much given his track record but manageable.

Which is fine, I don't think Strome is in the Rangers long term plans.

pretty much exactly what I've been expecting all off-season. Leaves the Rangers a *tiny* bit of flexibility this season (assuming Lemieux comes in somewhere around 1.5) and unless he falls off a cliff this season should be very movable either next offseason or as a rental.

Bad deal, his point production was good but it was because he played with Panarin and this contract brings him straight to free agency

I don't even think they'll want him in two years. They have a lot of guys who will need to get paid coming off rookie deals. He's definitely the odd man out

Strome isn't the Rangers long term plan at #2C.
Sometimes longer term isn't better. This is a great deal

Something closer to $4MM would have been better, but this isn't horrible, especially since it's only 2 years.

I think the point was it's too much without much term. This on 3+ year deal is better/ about right. Although not horrible, could have been better. Strome got the term and Money. Not a big deal, but given the Cap freeze and uncertainty.

If Ryan Strome is our 2C for 2021 and 2022, It's going to be a long 2 seasons. I'm starting to get convinced this team is full of themselves and is inept to realize its flaws.

Rangers are icing the same exact team without Staal, Skjei, Fast, and the AHLers to Johnson, Lafreniere, Bietto and other AHLers.

What a joke.

Not a bad deal. Even with the games where he didn’t play with Panarin he played good. The AAV is about right and glad they got him for 2 years. Could potentially look like a really good contract. If he does well and Chytil is ready next year, we can flip him at the TDL for max value.

I get not handing out long term deals but walk players straight to UFA always hurts in the long run.

I have seen many cases were that is happening, people are quick to point towards Seattle bait etc...

Not all of them will be taken in that manner as Seattle will not be obvious to fact in this case Strome's numbers are inflated due to his linemate Panarin.

For the reason he is walking to UFA, not good.
Plain and simple.

And he's gonna play with Panarin again? If he puts up 50+ points with Panarin this deal works out. Easy to trade or expose to Seattle or just let expire in 2 years. This is fine.
