This is the funniest thing I've ever seen. So Oilers lose the best hockey player in the world and get Lucic and Trouba back in return. No thanks.

Not even gonna wade into the trade part.

And somehow it's still better than the scenario you vomited out

Good day AGMers

Direct any critique of the trade to this comment! ✔

1. Trade value acts exponentially to many extents: it serves up sharply at the top and teams pay extra to acquire the elite generally, gotta pay a premium bro

2. The precedent is naturally the Gretzky trade:

to Los Angeles by Edmonton with Mike Krushelnyski and Marty McSorley for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, Los Angeles' 1st round choices in 1989 (later traded to New Jersey - New Jersey selected Jason Miller), 1991 (Martin Rucinsky) and 1993 (Nick Stajduhar) Entry Drafts and cash.

This is vaguely that but more because McDavid it a bit younger and closer to apex, though different in many ways, there's lots of nuances here, lots to assess, idk

3. The Trouba contract should be seen as a negative to many extents, he's not that good or young either, it's huge $ and term, part of the value is to offset that

Keep it constructive

The Ovechkin term is so long because he insists on it as a trade off for the dollar value so he can break you know who's goal record and there's good precedent

It's worth accepting because he's so durable and projects to be a 30 goal scorer until 40 much like...

Brett Hull as the perfect example stayed good until 40

If you're going by the Gretzky trade, you're going in blind. That trade only happened because the owner was broke and had to fund his other business ventures. In essence, Gretz was never traded. He was, however, simply sold.

Had it been a trade made for hockey purposes, the main piece coming back would have been Robitaille.

The day all the Rexall pharmacies and storefronts close their doors is the green light you need to propose this horrid scenario.

What the **** is this? I guess the fastest way to put an end to this is at the start Koskinen is well above .900% problem solved avoids all this complete foolishness

Well Calgary would probably do that trade at least. Unfortunately the Oilers tell you to get lost. They won’t care about taking cap back because that’s your problem and McDavid is worth every penny and then some. It would honestly probably take a full starting lineup of young guys (Lafreniere/Chytil/Kakko/Miller/Lundkvist/Shesterkin) to convince the Oilers to do anything with McDavid.

I know you put lots of thought into it and used your sites for stats and all but this reminds me of the lindros trade.. except it’s McD who is a top3 player in the world every year. But I personally wouldn’t give up that package for him. He’s more likely to get frustrated and leave EDM for nothing. I don’t blame to oil fans for not wanting to trade him either. As long as he is there they will have some form of window to win games, and if they are deep enough a chance to go deep in the playoffs. I know if you screen shot this proposal today and look at it in 2-3 years time it will be ridiculous. Just think, replacing the name shesty with lundqvist at 24. That alone makes this trade seem off. All that being said I don’t think edm would have the cap space for this trade and to think how much bonus comes with the 2 kids also

Your whole premise is flawed. Koskinen was .917 last year and Smith was .902... and they finished 3 points out of 1st in the division and 9th in the league.

Plus the unreal depth they just added should create more offensive zone time which results in less shots against which in theory should result in less goals against.
