Yep. I love Barkov. I'd trade Zibanejad to get him if it came down to it lol.

The more I think about it, I dont think Florida can afford what Barkov will command in free agency. That franchise financially just cant handle that kind of weight and I dont think he truly believes he can win a championship there.

He will take a 7 x 10. Florida will offer it for sure. It comes down to does Barkov think Staying in Florida gives him the best chance to win? I think the answer to that is no

The problem with Florida giving him 7 x 10 is what is that franchises financial budget? Does signing Barkov at 10m per affect their ability to bring in other quality players because of a budget? What happens to Huberdeau? Can they afford to pay him also?

Honestly keep Barkov and Huberdeau. Surround them with Denisenko, Tippett and Lundell. Trade Connolly and/or Vatrano if u want

But thats 5 guys...

Does this current economic situation have a long term effect on them? Will they be able to recover from these losses? Will it affect their ability to resign these very expensive players? This is a team that tends to try to stay closer to the cap floor than ceiling.

Yandle, Stralman, Vatrano and Connolly should all be expiring in the next 3 years

Sure but what do they then fill the rest of the team with? Is it good enough to win a championship? Which is the ultimate question... does he care about winning or does he care about loyalty?

Im just hoping he wants to win, hoping he wants to play with his country-mates Kakko, Pujaniemi & Reunanen, hoping the Rangers can swoop in with their fat wallets to pay the man.

Its my own personal bias that I dont think Chytil will be as good as some think. Signing Barkov and Zib will potentially price them out of keeping Chytil. Also, I dont see Chytil as a good third line center, as far as what I believe a good 3C is, being good on faceoffs, being physical, being responsible defensively. Im not sure Howden is the answer there either, as far as Im concerned its just a salary number place holder for what they can afford at that position rather than the actual player thats there.

very very off topic but do you remember when Zherdev had zero goals and zero assists in the 7 game playoff series vs Washington in 2009?

Chytil isnt a 3rd line center. He cant win faceoffs, not good defensively and is completely void of physicality. I think Howden has a better chance to be a better all around player fitting of a 3C. Chytil, right now, is far too one dimensional. He hasnt shown the skills offensively to make up for how bad he is in all these other areas like Kuznetsov.
