Lastest rumour about Gaudreau fair offer

Created by: NickDerose
Team: 2020-21 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 6, 2020

Description
With the lastest rumour in the interest of MTL in Gaudreau, I tried to figure a trade offer that will be good for both team. Calgary needs to add pieces in the actual line up + add potential prospects and draft picks. They want to add punch and depth without to do a retool. So with Tatar, they actually have a remplacement for Gaudreau and the add of Armia is a really good thing to the depth of their roster with a quality top 9 player. I add a potential B+ prospect in Olofsson (former 2nd round pick in 2018). Where it’s start to be interessing for Calgary is the add of a conditionnal 2nd round pick that will become a 1st round pick in 2022 if MTL achieve to resign him ( I think that MTL has good chance to resign Gaudreau ).

Tatar had more goals than Gaudreau last year, and is the better player defensively. On top of that his cap hit is less. Why is Montreal adding multiple pieces to this deal?

Tatar is older , ufa next year has 347 pts in 9 years . Gaudreau has 444 pts in 6 years.

Gaudreau has been in trade rumours for the last 2 or 3 years. Suzuki would not ever be part of a package for him for a few reasons. 1. Montreal has the centers they have been missing for the last 20+ years they are not depleting that for a winger. 2. Suzuki is younger with a higher ceiling and Gaudreau is already rumoured to be heading to Philly in 2 years so he is essentially a rental. 3. The Habs are at the cap limit so including Suzuki + 2 more roster players to make room for Gaudreau is just stupid overpay. We would have to clear 6 Mil to fit him Suzuki only clears 800+ k no way we move 3 roster players for 1 that defeats everything that has been done this off season by MB.

Solid counter point. I guess you really explained why the player who is at least equal in the offensive end, better in the defensive end, and cheaper against the cap has vastly inferior value because of 1 year remaining on a contract instead of 2 years. Silly me thinking performance on the ice and dollar value of the contract should be major considerations.

No, silly you is comparing a .95 PPG to a .60 PPG. That alone should get you laughed out of any room with any sensical hockey fan. To say "at least equal in the offensive zone" should get you laughed out of rooms with even nonsensical hockey fans. And then to whine, fill your diaper and say "oh silly me" like a hard done by little goof should have you laughed out of rooms with soccer fans.
Tatar surpassed 60 points this year by one point, that's only three more points than Gaudreau's absolutely worst season in the league, only two other seasons has Tatar had more than 50 points, other than this year Gaudreau has never been below 60. And then Tatar being older, a worse skater and turning 30 in a contract year are all just starting points as to why this is a joke of a deal, renegotiating with Tatar who has been bounced around the league and will ask for 6+ in a flat cap season would be horrible for any team in the league, I would rather see Gaudreau walk for nothing than extend Tatar after next season. Gaudreau is at his lowest value, Tatar is at his absolute peak right now and they're still not even close.
