-I am not breaking up the best line in the NHL in Nuge-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
-also don't see Barrie being a 3rd liner this season, he would for sure be on top of Larsson.
-The signing of Del Zotto is interesting.

Totally difference of opinion. Barrie on 3rd line is perfect

hate to tell you that line up is probably going to be the opening night roster and with the D pairing they look like that because there will be no 1 2 or 3 d line becaus ethey will get all the same amount of ice time

If you want to keep the puck out of the net I'd suggest not giving Barrie 2nd pairing minutes.

Put Barrie wherever you want. He's still going to play 20+ minutes a night since 1:30 of every powerplay will be his by default.

It Statistically was from its formation. 392 5v5 minutes together, they posted a 50.65 CF%, 70.73 GF% and an xGF% of 53.24. I think they were averaging 1.7ppg together.

they had a good run over a stretch of about 25 games or whatever, but you're not gonna convince me (or anyone who isnt an EDM fan) that its the best line hockey

I personally think Marchand - Bergeron - Pastranak is better but there's a good argument that they were better

"Breaks"?

And yes, they were the best line in hockey last year. I did the math. Only 1 line was particularly close.

Nugent-Hopkins - Draisaitl - Yamamoto: 5.29 GF/60 - 1.51 GA/60 = +3.78 G/60 [317:37]
Stamkos - Point - Kucherov: 6.04 GF/60 - 2.5 GA/60 = +3.54 G/60 [288:16]
Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak: 4.06 GF/60 - 2.17 GA/60 = +1.89 G/60 [635:55]

See post #12 above. The Boston trio didn't have better results last year.

they played a smaller sample size and probably overachieved. I dont view Yams as a consistent PPG player, Drai is elite sure but had a career year, and RNH also had a career year. They performed well in their given sample size, no debating that, but there is no way they are "the best line in hockey". not even close. ⅔ of the players (Yams and RNH) significantly overachieved

Of course they overachieved based on the shot metrics. But so did the Boston line and the TBL line - that's what elite players do.

Edit: also, the Edmonton trio had a larger sample size than the Tampa trio.

Yeah that line was sick, but McJesus needs to play with quality and Kahun and Drai lit it up once upon a time... I’m happy either way swapping nudge and Kahun. DYNamit line was unbelievable.
