Russell for sure isn't being picked by Seattle. The contract given to him was to fit exposure requirements for the Oilers. Nobody actual expects Seattle to take him.
Not sure why you gave Khaira a contract, let alone a 3 year. He had a good showing about 3 seasons ago, but has progressively gotten worse and worse, despite the low ceiling to start. Best case scenario for him is he gets a 1 year deal at league minimum next off-season. He simply is a horrible skater, lacks intensity, and might have the worst hands in the NHL. Three years I had high hopes for him, but its clear he ain't it.
Plus by next year, you'd expect a guy like McLeod to be ready for full time NHL duties. Oilers could give him good minutes on the 4th line at half the cost as you contract to JJ.
I like the Nuge contract. I'm all for giving him the 8 year deal to get the AAV as low as possible. Anything in the $6M-$7M AAV is a win for the Oilers.
I'm fine with the Larsson deal. By the sounds of it, he likes being with the Oilers. There is no doubt he would need to take a to stay, but he is still good at what he does. I would have thought your deal was fair pre-covid. With the flat cap, it would be ideal to get a little lower AAV, but its not horrible.
Again, no interest in Foligno. Simply cheaper options that play as good of, if not better of a role.
Lots of debate over where Kahun will play. I think it simply comes down to pre-season. I think they will give hime a look on both 97 and 29's lines. Wherever the fit is, they will go into the season with. Ideally he plays well with 29 and Yams, so it gives 97 a higher skilled winger in Nuge, but if he doesn't click with 29 and instead looks good with 97, then thats no problem at all.
