i look forward to you blaming the leafs getting hilariously goaltendered, having their best defenders injured by blocking shots or shooting 2% on lack of toughness if it happens again.
If the Leafs were as soft as people like you pretend then there is no way in the world they would have taken a team like the Bruins to 7 games or even got 2 wins out of the blue jackets last year.
I will be bold and say the Leafs win the Atlantic.
1. Brodie should be "that" ideal partner for Reilly
2. Muzzin-Holl is a very underrated shut down pair.
3. The blueline is the deepest it has been in years. Hell, Dermott is going to be fighting for playing time.
4. The 3rd line needed a make over (and you know I championed that position). Although this version may not be as offensively gifted, defensively is lightvyears better (a point you eluded to)
5. Dare I say the Leafs blueline is better than Boston's right now? Not replacing Krug leaves a massive hole in their top 4, and that is not bringing up an aging core.
6. We can't say Tampa is better because they have about $10-$12 million to dump.
7. Back to the Leafs.... did I mention the forward depth that wasn't there last year either? Keefe has more opitions in the bottom 6 than I do at a Chinese buffet. And we can discuss how Vesey or Simmonds or Kerfoot could fill a top 6 role in event of injury.
8. The Campbell factor. Maybe the best backup this side of Khobudin. (No offense to Jake Allen but....). Means Freddie may only have to play 50 games, so that when the show really begins, he isn't more burnt out than Pauly Shore doing stand up in a Community Centre.
Dubas out did himself. This team given the flat cap is awefully good.
