There's no way any team in the NHL can take on that many contracts in return for one player.

Why not? Are you some kind of expert? Do you work for an NHL team? Trump got elected anything is possible.

Actually, you don't even need to be an expert. It says it right on the front page........... Minny has 49 contracts signed currently. The max is 50.

Yo Marco, what's the appeal of the Patches trade? I've seen it proposed a few times, but Max is cheaper and gets more goals..... what am I missing?

Sacrificing one area to improve in another. We can sacrifice a little goal scoring prowess if it means we get a little tougher. MTL needs some toughness in their top 2 scoring lines. If Weber isn't on the ice to help protect a guy like Gallagher, who else is going to keep other players in check? Shaw? He isn't exactly a big man to start of with and plays more often than not on the bottom 2 lines. MTL doesn't have a true power forward IMHO. Landeskog fits the bill.

Wild can't take the contracts (as stated earlier).

Lots of quantity, but are any of the players more than depth? Real question, I've never seen them play.

Thank you, Marco. Maybe it's lingering ghosts but I am not sure how much goal scoring the Habs can afford to lose. I understand the appeal though.

Yup. We need the size and toughness.

I hear ya but we've also improved ten fold from previous years. Galchenyuk is looking like a perennial 30 goal man. Gallagher is coming into his own. Radulov can snipe. The bottom 6 seem to be more equipped to the new NHL and can score goals as they've shown for the past year and a half. I think downgrading from Pacioretty to Landeskog won't be the end of the world as we already have capable scoring. What we don't have is toughness in the top 6.

I don't see Landeskog as a downgrade from Patches.

He might not be the goal scorer that Patches is, but he also played in Roy's system. How many points is being on an organized team worth?
