He does but Tampa just won a cup. Teams don’t help out cup winners unfortunately

Can be 10% over the cap in the offseason. They’re rumored to be wanting to shed space anyways

Yes they can but that deal puts them in the same situation as the Lightening over the cap having to move good players to get back under cause they took a bad contract and no one willing to help them much either.

I think Detroit would be more interested in the Anaheim deal.

Cirelli Sergachev are not signing long contracts for peanuts. Cernak is reasonable.

Are you asking them to shoulder the load for the flat cap era? Not happening even with the tax advantage TB has especially when they hand out NTC’s like candy. Be lucky if they did for 1-2 years at best. Anyone can pick contracts to suit the cap. Sorry bro

Wrong. The reason why Anaheim appears over the cap on the CapFriendly summary is that Kesler is being carried as IR, not LTIR. The Ducks have room for Johnson, and would take him for this deal. The question is whether Johnson would waive his absolute NTC to come to SoCal.

C'mon, McDonagh isn't waiving his NTC to Detroit. Johnson isn't worth is contact so those two players are 11.75m cap hit for Tampa

McDonagh wont waive his full NTC for Detroit, And besides Detroit wants short term help not long term help. No reason for Tyler Johnson to waive his full NTC for Anaheim. Anaheim isn't a playoff team and the California taxes will eat him alive.

Id take mcdonagh for free. No he isnt a perfect fit for what we're trying to do but hes a good player and our ld is a barren wasteland. He can be the rock back there for us while our young D grow into their roles.

But he is 31 and comes with a cap hit of $6.75M for the next 6 seasons. I'm not sure it's worth it. If you look at the roster heading into next season Larkin, DeKeyser and Neilson will be the only players not on a contract he negotiated (not including ELCs) and I'm not sure Neilson will still be in Detroit at the start of next season. Even if he would waive I think it is very good for Detroit and honestly I'm not sure anyone takes him for free.

Well another way to look at it Yzerman did negotiate McDonagh contract so it technically wouldn't affect that part of the rebuild,
