Montreal could offer that and Danault will re-sign here at this price

Nashville less taxes. That’s 5 x 6 mill in Montreal

That doesn't change his home province and his childhood team, I guess we'll see if he's loyal

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried playing around with the Seattle draft but the quality of forwards that will be available will suck. I think Johansen and Henrique could end up as their top 2Cs

He ain't dumb. He is in a contract year, he wants big bucks and his production will be limited in a defensive third line role. Other than that, his whole life is here and if he signs before next season, he'll play anywhere Julien wants him to and will do whatever he can to win here. I'd be really surprised if he signs somewhere else in free agency

Sounds more like what you want to happen rather than what hes indicated.

Good centers are too valuable to leave unprotected.

Ya, damn me for wanting to know what hes actually indicated to people rather than what a Habs fan wants to see.

Reality is that when you spout terrible homer takes, you get called out on them.

What was a homer take? Because all of this just was just pure facts

That he'd be happy to play anywhere in the lineup when hes clearly indicated publicly that isn't the case. And given that hes not happy playing a reduced role in montreal, why would he sign there for the same amount as nashville like you indicated in your original post?

Exactly. They might be able to build a solid D core, but very few interesting forwards.

Of course it takes minimal deduction ability to know that a player wants to play a lot in his contract year to get a more lucrative contract. It's a marketing strategy. Once he gets his multi-year, multi-million dollars deal, do you really think he'll mind playing on the third 3rd line? It's just common sense. Do you think Loui Eriksson complains that he wants to play more? or Jean-Gabriel Pageau? or Kevin Hayes? or any other player signed long-term? It's gonna take more than what the Habs can afford to take him out of Montreal, and a 5x5 deal isn't the case.
