Ducks shouldn’t move Comtois rn

Buchnevich stats in the last two seasons aren't that much better than former Leafs Johnsson, and the Leafs just got an AHLer for in a trade this summer. Trade values for average players with cap is very low.
You've given up way too much just to get rid of Smith.

Pavel's combined stats: 132 GP, 37 goals, 47 assists, 84 points.

Andreas' combined stats: 116 GP, 28 goals, 36 assists, 64 points.


It's not crazy far off but Buch is a much better all round player playing on the top line and consistently improving. I wouldn't consider anything less than a 1st rounder for him maybe more.

"Young" might be a stretch, but I would part with Zach Sanford to acquire Buchnevich. He is big, and he just broke out last year. He's not a legit top-six presence, most likely a high end third guy who can fill in as needed (he was on O'Reilly's line when we won the cup after all!). But he probably will never cost more than 3.5 million and is currently only making 1.5 million against the cap.

We also have a glut of cheap-ish veteran LHDs we could part with as well to fill that hole in the NYR's roster as part of the trade to make up the value.

I'd be willing to include a first as well in a Buchnevich trade but I think I'd want a Lundkvist or Schneider coming back who can eventually supplant Faulk. Would end up being a bigger overall trade I think.
