The value would be fine but I don't think the Blues would consider moving Sunny. Perfect fit for the coach/style of play, can play in lots of situations and at C or W, and on a good deal for 3 more years.

Ya, I was thinking with Klim Kostin ready to come up and play at RW, and O’Reilly, Rob Thomas and T.Bozak at your 3 centers, and even with V.Tarasenko(hopefully), and Steen coming off the IR at RW. He would be expendable.

It is definitely getting crowded if everyone is healthy at the same time, but I feel like they'd shop Barbashev/Sanford/Blais/Bozak before moving Sundqvist. Just a hunch - obv if they could get a really nice return then they'd have to consider it. I'd be surprised if they left Sunny off of the expansion protection list tbh, and those other guys would likely be exposed.

What about trading Steen or Kostin?? I think Kostin might be something more like N.Legare and a 2nd round pick though. I think Steen would be an option too though. Coming off an injury and making 5.7M and becomes a FA after this year. His last year on his deal. If the Blues could get a prospect and a 2nd round pick and some cap relief.

I don't hate it, like the player. But thing is, they never played him while he was here the 1st time. It's not like he wasn't ready, he went to STL and played well.
I think think this is chalked up to another one of those guys Sully just wasn't interested in.

Ya, he’s not super productive in ST.Louis either. But I think his contract is reasonable and The Blues are crowded at Center with O’Reilly, Rob Thomas(Or B.Scheen), T.Bozak, A.Steen, I.Barbashev.

And they have a RW prospect in K.Kostin who played a couple games for them last year in the NHL, is 22, and is ready. Plus Perron, B.Scheen(or Rob Thomas), A.Steen, J.Kryou, M.MacEachern, V.Terashenko all at RW. Plus O.Sundqvist at C/RW.

So they have Perron/O’Reilly, 1st line C/RW
Rob Thomas/B.Scheen, 2nd line C/RW
Bozak/Kostin, 3rd line C/RW
Barbashev/J.Kryou, 4th line C/RW

And have A.Steen and V.Terashenko coming off the IR. Plus O.Sundqvist.

I think that’s his value. Can play multiple positions we need help in!!

Solid proposal but I would be hard pressed to give him up unless I had to.

The Pens have no interest in Kostin or they would’ve drafted him when they had the chance. He’s done nothing to prove them wrong, either. Pro body, amateur brain. I think they’d much rather keep Legare, for good reason.

The Blues got Kostin and Sundqvist in that deal. We traded that 1st round pick(which the Blues took Kostin) and traded Sundqvist for R.Reeves and a 2nd round pick. With we picked Z.Lauzon. Who was a good, big Denfender and was a good two-way, Defensive prospect but retired already b/c of concussions. And One pick in front of us, Max Comtois was taken..lol. Boy could we use him as a young, scoring LW!!

Taken out of context, the value isn't terrible, but no thanks. We're not chipping off good value, important pieces for futures right now.
