You're selling WAYYYYYY low on Marner. You don't trade a 90+ point winger signed through his prime that is only getting better!

@Lyle_Bubas do you have a marner chart too???

Yeah but we would get Gibson (a top 3-5 goalie) at a good cap hit locked in for the next 7 years so it's not all bad. Plus we shave off cap once Kesler expires.

That ANA deal is pretty much just Marner and Andersen for Gibson for Kesler. Makes no sense Keslers a AHL 1st liner or a NHL 4th liner at best

Anderson expires after this year so in essence you're right, it's Marner for Gibson basically with add-ons. Could swap out Kesler with Getzlaf but basically the idea is we get rid of Marners overpaid contract and get an elite goalie locked up for 7 years. Then as you'll see in the other trades we use the room for Marner's replacement in Meier which imo isn't a mega downgrade and is offset with the upgrade in net.

Kesler/Getzlaf from the Anaheim deal alternating with Kerfoot/Nylander for now. Then we either get a FA 2C in coming years or draft one. In the meantime, look at the upgrades on D and in net! Still a competitive forward group imo

You realize Kesler is injured for the rest of his career (I hope). So in other words, this team has no 2c. If it's Gezlaf, that's better, but I still don't like the idea of trading Marner, because I would do that SJ deal (Tavares probably wouldn't), so we'd need Marner to play 2c.

I actually argee, and I'm probably Tavares's biggest fan. There is no reason for the sharks to do that.

We don't really need to clear out cap, Florida declines because the return isn't great and we want to build our defense around Ekblad

Tavares has a NMC, stop trading him he isn't going anywhere.

Florida declines as it does not upgrade their roster in any way.

Getzlaf only has one year left on his deal and is on the decline so he isn't worth much, and Gibson would be good for the long run but I would rather have Marner any day.

Actually think that’s a fair trade value but no way sharks have a chance of making that cap hit fit on the team with EKG65 here
So no on this one!

nay, do not yet have a marner chart

I do know that he's basically a lock to be top 5 in primary assists each season, he's great defensively, blocks shots etc., and is so ridiculously, hilariously skilled that if he wanted to he could prob redistribute those assists into 30 goals a year

regardless, he's a back to back 90 point winger (59gp and 67p this year) before he turned 23, that is so quite rare in the NHL unless the player is ridiculously good. He's even got 21 points in 25 playoff games

For some reason, people act like Marner is worth a mid forst at most because of his slight over pay of a contract.

Exactly. And I just don't think that the value is great considering where Tavares is in his career. He will probably still be elite for a couple of years, but he's getting older and has an NMC which is really not great.
