While the Isles get the best player they cannot make that trade as they cannot afford Marner's contract.

Kings deal? Heck why not.
Flames deal? Ya sure (get ready for @Ledge_And_Dairy to murder you though)
Canucks deal? I guess but I like Rielly and the leafs clearly share my opinion. No need for it.
Islanders deal? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andersson has more value than Nylander though so your point is invalid

I agree, Marner for Lee is horrid for the leafs. Mayfield and Beuliver don't make up half of what would be needed.

Young top 4 RD carry more value than young top 6 RW's, we can agree to disagree though

Think about it this way, Andersson is currently on par with Brodie after his 2nd season in the league and just turned 24 2 weeks ago. It is very likely that he will continue to improve with a full time top 4 position in his 3rd season.

Yes, that is quite a fair Andersson anyalzation.

Just replace the 1st in the Calgary trade with a later pick (2nd) and it's fine. Andersson is decent, but Bennet is a 4th liner and together they don't get you a 30 goal scorer in Nylander.

Reilly is probably just as untouchable as Matthews, the leafs would really miss him as he just brings so much to the team.

LA trade is fine.

NYI one is just not really there for me. The leafs would likely ask for Pullock, Beavillier, and a 1st

No, this is a very bad take. Flames would also decline that offer without hesitation. Andersson is not available if all Toronto is offering is Nylander. Bennett is also not a 4th liner

Andersson and Bennet are both overrated by Flames fans. Andersson is a solid second pairing guy but he needs to prove he can play top pairing minutes imo. Bennet is a gritty player and his playoffs were decent but you cannot ignore the fact that he only had 12 points in 52 games. That is a 4th line forward. Maybe he can breakout but I find it unlikely

No one ignoring the fact that Bennett had a poor season when he was stapled to Jankowski's wing. When he was moved to center and given remotely competent line mates he played excellent. Also this is not his first time playing well in the playoffs, this happens every playoffs.

Calling Andersson "a solid 2nd pairing guy that needs to prove he can play top pairing minutes" shows how little you know about him. He is already playing top pairing minutes and was as good as Brodie this year. He only just completed his 2nd NHL season and should only get better. Ras is also far from being shelted, in games vs the Oilers, Avalanche, etc. He 8s the go to guy for shutting down McDavid, MacKinnon, and whoever the oppositions best player is.

I would simply point to the Hall for Larsson trade as to why you don't trade skilled forwards for shutdown D-Men straight-up.

Great point! Nylander is not quite as good as Hall, but overall this is a great comparison to a Nylander for Andersson trade.

Larsson had just completed his 5th NHL season and was an 18 point player on average, also Hall is much better than Nylander. It's not a bad example but it's not a great one. My counter argument would be Seth Jones for Ryan Johanen

My above one is equally as good an argument that provides the exact opposite result

Agree to disagree. IN my opinion Nylander is far better than Andersson, but I'm not changing your mind so... grin
