Is there a team with better center depth

Created by: Russell_C
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 10, 2020
Published: Nov. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Im skeptical of Thornton at 3C for the full year, I question as to weather or not he will be able to maintain his legs/energy in that position for the full year and into playoffs, but we shall see.

Having said that, we have 3 #1OA picks and a #2OA pick @ center.. i dont know if theres another team that has the same "depth" @ C.

BTW i got a 10$/hour raise today... HEHE

Edmonton's is better given they have an actual #3C

I tend to agree with this - although I don’t love the oilers Mcdavid - Leon - RNH is very deep. Leon and Mcdavids offensive stats are a level above everyone else

Overall selections don’t really matter - Oilers and Tampa come to the top of my head (assuming Tampa is running Point - Cirelli/ Stamkos - Coleman) as some of the deepest centres but the leafs aren’t far off I guess and probably above Tampa

If Turris rebounds even slightly, the Oilers have a genuine luxury down the middle. I'd love to see McDavid and Draisaitl take steps forward on their defensive games.

I very much agree as I am not a fan of mcdavid but think it’s fair to say mcdavid is the best player in the world. But the way mackinnon played this year PLUS that amazing playoff run he had I personally put the list as:

Mackinnon
Mcdavid

As the best players in the world with mackinnon topping Mcdavid this year overall. And while Mcdavid and Leon are literally next level offensively and provide output that no one is close to matching (mackinnon is close but not the same tier) they both haven’t taken that physical and defensive stride that Mackinnon and Crosby provide.

I love Thornton and he’s good but more of a 4C... even on the sharks I was wishing he was 4C at times, and I’ll give Thornton love and respect every day of the week.

The oilers run

Mcdavid
Leon
RNH
Turris

Things can change but if they run those 4 that’s a very deep C

If Kerfoot isn't the 3C, many teams have better center depth.

I can't put Thornton up there unless I see him in a game. If he's as good as he's hyped to be, that means San Jose at some of the best center depth last year with Couture, Hertl and Thornton.

Just going off roster guys listed as Cs:

Toronto - Matthews, Tavares, Kerfoot, Thornton, Spezza
Edmonton - McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Turris, Ennis, Khaira, Yamamoto, Quine, Griffith

Oilers have better depth by the definition.

Let's look at Tampa and Pittsburgh too:

Tampa - Point, Stamkos, Cirelli, Johnson, Coleman, Gourde, Paquette, Stephens
Pittsburgh - Crosby, Malkin, McCann, Jankowski, Rodrigues, Blueger, Lafferty

Toronto has good centres but aren't necessarily deep in the position. Tampa and Edmonton look deeper and Pittsburgh just drops off a cliff after Crosby and Malkin.

How do you consider Hopkins as a C but Kerfoot as a wing

Pens have SId and Geno. #1 and #2 overall picks and Janko a 1st round 21st overall pick and Blueger a 2nd round pick. And if u want to say McCann, who was our 3 line C last year, is a former 1st rounder too. But McCann is gonna stick on the wing this year. Sully and JR want him to just concentrate on putting the puck in the net on offense. What he’s good at. He has a great shot!! Not be a play-maker for his line. So instead of his back to back 35 point seasons. This year he’ll score his 20 goals plus.

But that’s your point right?? Who’s Centers are high draft picks?? 3 #1 pick and #2 overall is tough to beat though!! Lol.

100% the Oilers.

McDavid
Drai
can put Nuge in 3rd C if needed.

but Mcdavid, Drai, Turris is better for the get go.

I never said kerfoot is a wing I just stated that the oilers have a deeper center depth even if the leafs run Thornton at 4C or 3C

I mean Hopkins LITERALLY took more faceoffs than kerfoot but that doesn’t even matter because RNH is miles better than Kerfoot and Thornton lmfao, face palm yourself

(And a better win% in the dot than kerfoot..)

Off the top of my head... Edmonton. I'd say they outmatch Toronto at every spot except 4C

When Hopkins is playing C, Kerfoot healthy is basically as good as him. Hopkins on the wing is actually good.

tears of joy Kerfoot has averaged a 48.4 faceoff% while Nuge had a 44.4$ over there careers

Yes facepalm myself reading your post

That’s wasn’t really the point as I said it doesn’t matter so you’re focusing on a fact I already said doesn’t matter.
As well as I literally said win% was higher and was regarding the last year. Also RNH 3 year avg points pace is over 70 whereas kerfoot is literally under 40... there’s zero chance the oilers would ever entertain a RNH for Kerfoot trade

lol... @ some oilers fans who actually watch RNH play everyday and they’ll tell you how good he is.

I watch the oilers a good amount since I’m a sharks fan in the pacific. And since I live east coast I also watch Ottawa and Toronto/ Canadian teams a lot. RNH is not some 3rd liner... kerfoot is. Like kerfoot legit isn’t great, even leafs analysts like SN590 guys don’t have much great things to say about kerfoot. If the leafs and oilers did this:

Kerfoot

For

RNH

1 for 1 you and I both know the oilers would become a laughing stock. If you deny that then you delusional. Any leafs fans you’d ask would probably trade kerfoot for RNH without even thinking.
