Yea, Toews waives his NMC for Buffalo.Huh? Horrid "on ice " value for the Hawks when you consider 6m Okposo is traded.

Who thought it was a good idea to give Okposo 6 million a year?

Way I viewed this was Chitown is rebuilding they get more in depth value and a future piece with mitts while brining in a cheaper vet in okposo whos on a short term deal they can afford. I could also see the possibility of sending a second instead of the 3rd to sweeten the pot

Couldn't tell you....Sabres have gone through so many GMs in the past few years, It's hard to keep track. Who thought it was a good idea to give Skinner 9m a year?

At least Buffalo fans, have the Bills (finally)

Not a Bills fan, couldn't tell ya.

As for skinner, they had to pay him after coming off a 40 goal campaign other wise theyd be in worse shape than they are.
now they at least have better depth having brought in staal and hall.
My thinking was 3 man depth at center and walk from staal next year for cap reasons unless he wants to stay.
Keep in mind, Staal also had a NMC

Sorry, the logic behind "had to pay Skinner" is not true. Since he not worth his contract long term, Sabres would have better just to "let him walk" and spend 9m in better places. Skinner just isn't that good (meaning a complete NHL player). Gee, 23 POINTS and a minus 22 in 59 games last season. Yikes. Staal and Hall are just one year players, and still probably won't get the Sabres in the playoffs. But they will be worth something at TDL probably.

I agree skinner is about a $7 mil player at best. But buffalo is a small market and in order to draw ppl in, they usually have to overpay.
