Detroit passes, Hronek isn't available you can't just make up a salary for him when he's already signed for this season. You still need to add a 1st round pick and 2nd round pick on top of Johnson as well.

So our best F prospect ABB is not good enough?

Idk, I think detroit would be foolish to decline this trade. I'm both a tampa fan and a detroit fan, and it kinda makes a lot of sense for both teams.

I'm not sure that is point he is trying to make. Here is how I see it. If Johnson does waive for Detroit (highly doubtful in my opinion) he is as much of a cap dump as he is valuable player from the Wing's pov. Around Christmas time last season there was a long discussion about Hronek for Sergachev 1 for 1 and the conclusion made was its a lateral move since they are pretty close talent wise but that was when Sergachev was still on an ELC. With Hronek still on an ELC and having no idea what Sergachev is asking for ABB doesn't cover Johnson's contract and the difference between Sergachev's contract and Hronek's $714,166 for next season. With the league wanting to play a shortened season similar to what happened during the last lockout it will be at least 3 seasons before the cap raises more than $1M in a single offseason. Cap space will be at a premium even more so than it is now.

Never said it wasn't good enough, So we weaken our rightside to strength our leftside, What sense does that make?

Had we drafted Jamie Drysdale i'd be for making this deal, But losing Hronek and not even having Mo seider is a no go for me. It weakens our rightside big time. Would love Sergachev but not for Hronek they're basically the same player.

Trading Hronek for Sergachev is pretty much robbing Peter to pay Paul. Our right side looks good with Hronek & Seider but without one of them we’d need to bolster that. The cap hit difference next year also helps acquire cap dumps.

Personally, I'd rather Joseph than Paquette.

Tampa isnt interested in moving Serg or a F who is very likely to play in the top 9 next year(at the latest the year after). Since Serg is quite proficient and comfortable at playing the right side and could easily end up partnered with McD or Hedman next year depending on the plan with Rutta, if this trade were plausible then Detroit sees little loss of skill at the position. As it stands, I don't see it working because Tampa doesn't have any intention of moving Serg or ABB at this time, and I don't see Johnson having Detroit as one of the 8 teams he's willing to waive to. Hronek is a great player but not more valuable to Tampa than Serg and ABB, even with Johnson part of it.

I was really excited about seeing what TB is going to do, but ive been disappointed big time. Outside of waiving TJ, they havent addressed their issues and left young RFA's to the threat of o/s.
