If PIT Even SNIFFS That Marino Is Taking Over 1RD

Created by: Arom5477
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 12, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PIT
    Traded after training camp.

I just don't see any point to him being on the team. There are younger, faster, and cheaper options already.
    2.
    PIT
    1. Fabbro, Dante
    2. Järnkrok, Calle
    Additional Details:
    Picks to balance.
    NSH
    1. Letang, Kris
    2. McCann, Jared
    Additional Details:
    Picks to balance.

    This trade depends on:

1.) How close NSH is to being legit contenders; if they're right on the edge, I could see them doing this for more offense from their D and high offensive upside, in McCann, to replace Jarnkrok.

2.) They didn't sign Mike Hoffman.

I just don’t know if Nash would trade fabbro - but McCann is a nice piece and so letang obvi. I think pit would be the team adding IMO just due to age/ cap. But argument could be made the other way just as easily as pens giving high current value assets.

We’ve already established on here that McCann / jarkonk are similar value

So pens are essentially trading letang for fabbro, who had one of the worst seasons last year (by analytics) in the entire league? I get he’s a young player, but that’s an extremely hard pass. Pens get significantly worse

NSH wholeheartedly declines. Jarnkrok and McCann are probably close in value, but I'd rather keep Jarnkrok. Cheaper, more versatile, and I don't believe that McCann has much more untapped potential. Fabbro's rookie season had some bumps, but he's NSH's only young, cost-effective, top four defenseman right now. Letang might have value to the right team, but NSH isn't one of them.

McCann better than Jarnkrok right now. And is only 24 years old!! Letang would bring back more than Fabbro. Letang still scored 44 points in 55 games last year and 56 in 65 games the year b4. And was still voted a 10 top Defender by NHL network for next year. He was like 7th or 8th.

I disagree about McCann being better - I think Jarnkrok is the better overall player, but it's relatively close. I outlined why I'd prefer to have Jarnkrok. Letang's trade value is tricky, because you'd have to find a team that needs him, can absorb his salary, and isn't scared off by his age, injury history, and decline. I'm not sure what teams would be on that list. Nashville wouldn't be one of them. Whatever the potential return for him would be is irrelevant, as it doesn't make sense for PIT to trade him. He's still their best defenseman by a mile, and they appear to be trying to keep their competitive window open for as long as possible.

I know the problem u are having
My man!! McCann has had two 35 point seasons back to back years!! He only played 5 seasons in the NHL. Since he was 19. Not 6 years and since he was 18. 2018 you are looking at those stats as 2 separate years. He played for 2 teams. And had 19 goals and 35 points b/ween the 2 teams in 78 games!! Those 2 stats lines arnt separate seasons. He had 14 goals and 35 points last year. And 19 goals and 35 points the year b4. And again has played in the NHL since he was 19. And has been bounced around from 3rd line C. To top 6. To 4th line Winger. This year, he is staying on the LW, 3rd line!! Where he belongs. And do what he does best. Put the puck in the net. And will score 20 plus. And is still just 24.

Like what do you think every other team is going to think too?

Oh yeah sure we'll take him?

It's a one year expiring deal. Unless a team has a need due to injury he's probably not going anywhere

trading Letang isn't tricky. It's not like you are talking about the Burns contract or something. His contract ends in 2 years. There is little risk there. What you see is basically what you get.
If they aren't in the playoffs next year, he probably gets shopped out for a 1st and prospect at deadline or before.
Massive retool will start after next years outcome.
