Robert Thomas is a really elite young piece and Dunn is a young top 4D. If anything, it might be a bit much.

If Dunn was that, hed be signed already.

Blues would have to start with a top prospect and then keep adding, you put a cap dump to Panthers.

Florida is likely trying to rebuild if they are trading Huberdeau.

Dunn is 23 and Thomas is 21. Those are the perfect pieces if they're rebuilding lol and a 1st round pick.

So Dunn is either a UFA after his next deal or the one he signs now.

Point is, both Thomas and Dunn are NHL roster players.

My opinion again is if Huberdeau is being traded, they are rebuilding and not retooling.

As a Sens fan, you dont think if i couldve gotten a piece like Thomas, Heiskanen or even a roster player like Ehlers in a return for Duchene, Stone or Karlsson, Dorion wouldve done it? If youre going to rebuild, you want the best available young players back in a trade. If they trade Barkov, Ekblad and Huberdeau, even if they get Dunn and Thomas in return theyll still be a bottom team. Ottawa has Chabot and Tkachuk and still finished as one of the worst teams. Same with Detroit and Larkin, Mantha and Bertuzzi. You can get young players to build around who can play now who are super young and still be able to tank and cut a rebuild short

If there was a way to do it without Thomas I'd be all over it. Probably a fantasy.

yeah this wasnt serious tbh, i did it for fun but i feel this is what it would cost. If i was STL, id push for anything else instead of Thomas. But do you agree with the notion that if Florida was rebuilding, they wouldnt want Thomas as the main piece back because they'd want futures so they could tank? I just dont agree with that, hes 21, any team would take him as the main piece in a return for a star player. Hes the type of player you could still build around but 1-2 young roster players dont place the team out of bottoming

I'd say thomas is the most valuable trade piece we could offer - much more valuable than picks or any of our younger prospects. He is def who they would target. Proven ELC talent like that is untouchable for a reason.
