IMO opinion DeBrusk is way > than S.Bennett and Hanifin and B.Carlo are much closer. I don’t know if O.Kylington and the little upgrade of Hanifin over Carlo is enough for DeBrusk. And they are giving up a 3rd round pick!! I’d say Calgary is getting the bigger end of the stick in this deal by a good bit!!

Can't see Debrusk or Vatanen signing for under $3M.

I also can't see this structure working for either team. Kylington is worth a late 2nd round pick to any team interested in taking a worthwhile bet on a young great skating dman. I think Hanifin is worth Carlo + 2nd + 4th. Both teams are probably better off keeping Debrusk and Bennett, respectively.

So Calgary gets the best 2 players in the deal on better contracts and a third to boot. Interesting

Hanifin is easily the best player in the deal

He is soooo operated and is overpaid especially with a flat clap for the next few years. He is an average at best 2nd pair defenseman

Overpaid? You can't be serious. It's amazing how Bruins fans on here are turning me against a team I used to actually like. You guys might be worse than Leafs fans.

So, you aren't a homer, just massively ill-informed.

Carlo is an interesting case, as his most common partner, and player he's had the best results with over the last two seasons, has been Torey Krug. When away from Krug he's had uninspiring results in context of Bruins team that has been quite good. If I'm the Flames, I probably see Carlo as capable 2nd pairing player, but one that needs a guy that can help him move the puck up the ice. Him and Valimaki could be an interesting 2nd pair together. Hanifin on the other hand, in my eyes, is a bottom pairing D. Just doesn't seem to be able to make an effective play, and even with a D-first guy like Hamonic, has struggled mightily. Combined with his contract, flipping him for Carlo is probably a net plus for Calgary, as it gives you a guy that you could roll out on 3rd pairing duty and not worry too much about, if he doesn't work as a 2nd pairing player. However, his acquiring would seem to make the Tanev signing redundant and going after a guy like Weager would of been the optimal move. As for the 2nd part, the Debrusk for Bennett swap is clearly a win. Bennett, though he's had flashes in the playoffs, is a 3rd/4th line winger. This would be a boon for Calgary. Kylington, seems to of fallen out of favor with the organization, though I think he could probably handle tertiary deployment. If he has to go to make this happen, Calgary can absolutely stomach it.

Boston should say no, and especially after the Dougie Hamilton trade should not be keen on making a deal with Treliving, as this could look like a real stinker quite quickly.

Please inform me what Hanafin does so well to validate him being a 5 million AAV player

hes solid defenseman and contributes offensively. hes also only 23 years old and already had 389 games played. he is already a topline defenseman on most teams in this league and he hasnt even reached his peak yet. (most plyers peak around 27-28 years old). You are actually incredibly delusional if your above evaluation of Hanifin is real
