I like the forwards you've picked but tbh I'd scrap the rest and add shesterkin and sorokin. To be a Calder d-man you have to get the right usage and none of those guys will unless there are significant injuries.

Dach isn't eligible, we don't know if Zegras is playing, maybe Tippett though

Lol where are you getting your information? It was his hand he broke, and he'll likely be ready by early December. He might not even miss the World Juniors, let alone half of the season.

Agreed, only "rookie" defensemen with a chance this season are Valimaki and Heinola, we could see Seider come over though which would be interesting

What?? His hand?? World J begins in December. 8 weeks is January plus. 2 months. NHL season is supposed to start in January and be a condensed season. So missing 2-3 months. Yep, he won’t qualify. A rookie, no training camp? Make the roster? Good luck.

Ohh, you forgot Morgan Frost too..lol.

That article was wrong. People initially thought it was his arm, due to a mis-translated article from Germany. It was quickly clarified to be a bone fracture in his hand.

Also even in that article it says 6-8 weeks, so I still have no idea where you pulled "half the season from.

Here's an article from the other day.

Season is starting January 1st. Condensed season. 8 weeks is 2 months. January plus. U expect an 18 year old rookie to come in, no training camp and start right back up? Good luck!! Again, he won’t qualify!!

Ohh, u forgot Morgan Frost and josh Norris too!!

First it sounds like the season is starting January or February, no way it starts in December. Also it's 6-8 weeks from the 12th of October, when the injury happened. Has him ready by early December. Not only will he be ready for Sens Camp, he's probably going to be the most ready, as he'll be coming off a camp and full World Junior Tournament with the German National team.

Yep, I edited to January. Last I read said end of December. Now they say January 1st. We will see. I read the injury was more serious. But I guess I’m wrong. I hope it works out!! We’ll see. I didn’t plan on seeing him this year

I don't know why everyone thinks Byfield is going to be in the NHL, let alone a Calder contender

Just for clarification, the surgery for Stuetzle was on Oct 15, 6-8 weeks is 42-56 days, which is between Nov 26-Dec 10, give or take a day on when you think the recovery begins.

From rotoworld.com Nov 11

TIM STUETZLE
C, OTTAWA SENATORS

Tim Stuetzle is on recovering on schedule from surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand.
"The recovery is going according to plan and Tim is waiting for a brace (for the hand) so he can go skate," said Mannheim Eagles GM Jan-Axel Alavaara. "He’s in the gym and doing rehab every day." Stuetzle was injured on Oct. 12 during training camp ahead of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga season. He was expected to be out of action for six-to-eight weeks following a procedure on Oct. 15. Stuetzle is still awaiting the green light to get back on the ice and start shooting. Alavaara hopes that the 18-year-old forward will be ready for the World Junior Championship.

I would take Valimaki over both. Very underrated young defenseman.
