Push back to finals

Team: 2020-21 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 13, 2020
Published: Nov. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dallas gets rid of a bad contract in Johns, a rather poor contract for a solid 3C in Faksa, plus a few mid round picks to take on half of Getzlaf for next year, and to LTIR the remainder of Kesler’s deal.

Why this makes sense for Anaheim:
- They finally pull the trigger on the rebuild. They have a Top 5 prospect core, they can work on integrating guys like Zegras into the lineup, then Steel, Jones, Terry into the top 6 full time. Although Faksa has a somewhat poor deal, for a rebuilding team it is not a bad deal as it will keep the team above the cap floor. Ducks can take a guy like Johns and have him play under Shattenkirk & Manson. Or the option to LTIR him.

Why this makes sense for Dallas:
- As they bring back Corey Perry who was very good for them in the playoffs, they also bring in veteran Getzlaf who will be a fantastic 3C for the Stars. He and Perry alongside the other vets who helped Dallas’ playoff run will provide great presence, and hopefully motivate guys like Seguin & Radulov to step it up further.

Getz isnt waiving to go anywhere, hes already said so. He has a young family and especially in covid he isnt leaving them, even just for a few months. He has his ring already and he has no desire to leave ANA

Value wise this is good though

speaking as an outsider here.

that's way too much to give for an old, one year rental who you play as your 3C.

You guys need to stop lying. Getzlaf never said he won’t waive. He’s on record saying that if GMBM came to him about moving on they’d work together if it was in the best interest of the organization.

Honestly, I have no desire to try to chase a Cup somewhere else,” Getzlaf told The Athletic.

Where’s the lie? Do your research before you call people liars

No research needed. Your quote doesn’t say he won’t waive. His desire is to stay with ANA but he said if GMBM comes to him he’ll think about it and work with him if it’s for the betterment of the organization.

Edit: the same article you pulled your quote from, “ “Me and Bob have talked. Years ago, when I signed this no-move clause, this wasn’t a no-move clause to lock him into something that he didn’t want to be a part of. We’ve had the same agreement since day one,” Getzlaf said. “If he ever felt that he needed to do something to move me, then he would come talk to me and we’d work through it. And vice versa.”

wouldn't call faksas contract poor at all. he is one of the best defensive forwards in the league and he just signed that deal. Johns most likely doesn't play hockey again and goes on ltir. No reason for the stars to do this.

they also cant bring on cap. they need to clear the overages from last year and the bonuses from this year to resign miro, Dickinson, and oleksiak plus klingberg is up the year after. with the flat cap that 5m in overages if they don't clear them this year is going to hurt bad and only become a bigger problem.

Him saying he has no desire to leave literally means he doesn’t want to waive. Yeah he said he would consider it if asked but he literally said he doesn’t want to

Exactly he would consider it. So quit lying and saying he want waive when he’s on record saying he would work with GMBM if asked.

Dude it isn’t a lie he said he doesn’t want to 😂. Willing to work and wanting to are two completely different things. You can not want to but be open to it, which is exactly what he says in the interview. Also he said that at the start of the contract, and that specific article was pre covid. So if he didn’t want to then it’s safe to assume he would want to even less now

You said he wouldn’t waive. He is on record saying he would work with GMBM. There’s nothing to argue here. Stop saying players won’t waive especially when they’re on record saying differently. Also didn’t he just sell his house?

He literally said he doesn’t want to leave ANA. You’re hopeless at this point. He also sold a house there in 2016 what’s your point?

Hopeless would be the one that chooses to just ignore an entire quote in hopes of being right.
