So current team worse, and according to prospect watchers I follow future team worse.

Thanks for sharing!

I’ll take Schneider over amirov any day of the week. Would’ve been a better pick

Of all the teams that could have picked Schneider Toronto seemed like the obvious choice, apparently not

I like Schneider. Personally I'm not convinced he's a surefire Top 4 dman.

Success in the CHL (when you're more physically mature than 75% of the league) doesn't always equal NHL success.

I like the Amirov pick.

The Leafs will absolutely need cheap fwd depth that can contribute over the next few years.

When the Dubas era is over, the next GM will hate what Dubas left in the prospect cupboard.

Luckily that won't be a big concern for a long time.

for a team that's desperate for a steady RHD and has a plethora of high scoring forwards, the pick made absolutely no sense

What does current team needs have to do with guys that are 2 to 3 years away (if they're lucky) from making an impact??

With the core 4 not going anywhere anytime soon, having lots of skilled fwd options that can contribute while not making big $$ seems smart to me.

Leafs should definitely avoid high skill and high IQ prospects when drafting, size has to be number 1 on the list!!!

Ugh I wish I could swap Schneider with Amirov as a Rangers fan. Unfortunately Dubas is too smart.

lol. You mean an offensive powerhouse with tons of prospect depth and a decent blueline?

I dont see the Dubas era ending anytime soon. Hes been a great GM so far, and I would expect him to continue to be really good

Schneider is such a safer pick though. I think he has low bust potential. Amirov though is much riskier. id take a safe top 4 RHD over a risky 60-70 point scoring forward

he really isn't. rangers should've drafted Lapierre anyways. It would've been by far the best pick for them. When they traded up, TSN zoomed in on Lapierre's home webcam because they figured they would be drafting him. instead, they took ANOTHER rhd when they already have Fox/DeAngelo/Trouba/Lundqvist. weird pick imo. plus how good would a future top 6 of this look:

Laf-Lapierre-Kakko
Panarin-Zib-Buchnavich

and on D

K'andre Miller-Fox
Lidgren-Lundqvist

I wanted Khusnutdinov or Bourque in the moment. Schneider got picked because Davidson/Morehouse are obsessed with size and physicality. It wasn't smart and it probably will look worse as time goes on. I'd take Amirov over any of them though. Kid is the real deal.

I haven't read anything about Amirov being a risky pick. Everything I've read has his floor as fast 30-40pt high IQ 3rd liner.

Big dmen that dominate junior because of their size are historically the riskier guys to take with a mid first.

Lapierre would've been the best pick there. Laf and him would've been dynamic. im not sold on amirov at all. we will see with him.

No playoffs series wins and missed the playoffs last year. GM of the year, oh wait that award went to Dubas' boss/mentor Uncle Lou.
