I think that this works for Tampa, except that they would insist on a good prospect like Trenin or Farrance rather than a rental over-ager.

Preds decline. They're all nice players coming back, but why give TB a 1st for helping them out of their cap situation? Cernak doesn't really make sense for NSH either. Fabbro isn't a 7th defenseman and pushing him out of the lineup isn't going to help his development. It also leaves NSH with five defensemen that would need expansion protection.

Also, there's no way Perry would be accepted in that locker room.

If Corey Perry became a Pred, I would give up my season tickets. Also, don't give up a 1st to solve TB's cap problems. If you're getting Cernak, may as well send back Fabbro because the message at that point is he's not cutting it.

What? Literally all 3 of those pieces are worth that 1st alone

Gotta disagree with that. Killorn won't get close to a 1st right now, with the flat cap and Tampa's situation. Cernak might be worth that to the right buyer, but as I said above NSH doesn't have a spot for him. I know TB gave up more than a 1st Coleman at the deadline, but they overpaid by a lot. A 1st is too much for one year of a guy who'll get you 30 some points. NSH already brought Kunin in for that spot on the 2nd line (just noticed now that the OP didn't sign him here).

The overall value here is tilted in NSH's favour, but it still doesn't make them a real contender. It does max out their cap space, complicates their expansion list, and gives up a 1st they really shouldn't be parting with though.

I meant in a vacuum each piece is worth a 1st. Killorn wont return a 1st this year but notmally he would. Coleman cost essentially 2 fists at the deadline, a full year of him is worth 1, he is very good dont underrate him. And you just said Cernak is worth a 1st. Nashville takes this deal and runs its super lopsided in their favor and they can worry about expansion later.

To be clear, I said Cernak might be worth a 1st to the right team. I mean if Poile can flip Cernak and one of the forwards to recoup a 1st+, then sure. But I don't know how much success he'd have doing that right now. With these players he's maybe upgraded this team from potential lottery squad, to middle of the pack but no real chance at playoff success. He probably loses Cernak to SEA, and doesn't have the cap space to re-sign Coleman. I'd rather have that 1st than Killorn.

Tampa will want a younger player /prospect like trenin. Swap him out with tinordi. Trade fabbro to a team looking for a RHD and get a forward or another young prospect that is expansion protected. Ditch Perry.

Would NSH prefer Hoffman or to trade for a forward?

@gmgb omg thanks! I totally forgot about Kunin! Kunin's a physical player so in that case Perry wouldn't be necessary. I still think the TB trade works out for both sides since Tampa is desperate for cap space. Otherwise, we can just offer sheet Cernak (FYI nobody wants those long expensive TB contracts, and Killorn is probably the most palatable. If TB could move him, they would've done so already). I'm actually really high on Coleman for his physicality and scoring touch. I agree that Fabbro is a great player, and I had him in tandem with Benning for 6th Dman. I assume there will be injuries, so Fabbro will definitely get a shot at top 4 minutes during the course of the season.
