Isles aren't trading Dobson.

No one would give more than a 3rd for TJ.

So you get that much for Johnson.
Then you flip him for two 2nds with only 1m retained...

well, the tampa first is really moving down from a very late first to a third, so it isnt that insane and we arent even getting their top prospect, for them getting rid of 4 mil in cap space for the full contract, on top of that i dont see why another team wouldnt want tyler johnson for 3m a year, i think the 2 seconds maybe a little steep but its not crazy

i mean they have to give up something for 6m in cap clear, for 2 years, thats steep, we got a single second for staal, and hes a better player, for less cap, and a year less in term, so the standard is a second, meaning it has to be MORE than that for a worse contract.. they arent giving up whalstrom, so dobson is next.

No he is not. Would you trade Lucas Raymond for some cap relief?

we arent up against the cap, so thats a dumb question, if we were, and someone wanted to take dekeyser contract with multiple years left, and wanted lets say rasmussen? i would consider it

You just contradicted yourself. Rasmussen is not close to Dobson stature as a prospect. More so Bellows area. I know Detroit doesn't need to dump cap bro, I'm talking about perspective. You don't trade top chips for salary dumps. It's unrealistic as it gets. Especially considering how Lou operates his teams.

Id love to do that and flip johnson but I dont think you'll get 2 2nds. Maybe a 3rd. Plus if tampa eats the million I doubt you get volkov and the 1st

the difference from Massive Cap dump to 2 2nds isn't 1M. If Nashville could get that kind of return for taking on TJ at full price, they'd do that instead of paying that much for 1M in retention.

Noway Detroit does this, If Tampa retains $1 million on Tyler Johnson for their 2021 1st round pick and Alexander Volkov then Detroit will just keep Tyler Johnson and then hpe that Seattle takes him next year in the expansion draft. The odds of Detroit getting Tampa's 2021 1st round pick plus Volkov plus Nashvilles 2 2nd round picks are slim to none.
