The inevitable

Description
Not sure about the bottom 4 pairing. I know Greene-Dobson looked great but Leddy-Mayfield may be trouble. I think Bardreau, even on his off side, gives a better look on the LW than having Dal Colle. He is dropped to the AHL because of cap reasons. If they had an extra 40K they could just scratch him. It'll be interesting.

If a 2nd got rid of one year of Staal wouldn't a 1st be enough for two years of Boychuk?

If you really want, sign Greene for 960K or Barzy for $8 700 000

At that price, we better get Barzal for longer than 3 years. Imo a bridge deal should be no more than like $8 million, anything more should be at least 5 years, even if it does walk him to UFA.

So maybe you shave a little off his deal and then use it to sign Martin or some other bottom 6 guy and play them over Bardreau. I loved him in his call up, but he is a career AHLer. I think giving him 3rd line duties right of the bat could be risky. Worse case scenario, I say you just play Leo at 3LW and get replacement level value out of him until the TDL when you can find ways to make upgrades

I feel like if a first could move Boychuk it would've been done, but to be safe I added Bellows. Wish we knew more than we did rumor wise

If we could do 7x9 for barzy I would lock it up now. But I can't see him at 7 and he's worth 9. For this I did slight overpayments for worse cases, which seem like the realistic cases at this point.

That 3rd line LW I think all depends on camp. Lou and Barry don't like rushing younger guys but without cap we're either going to put a young guy next to pageau or a guy who has no offensive capabilities. They pick their poison on that one. Personally I can see Leo starting but I would want to put someone with some potential scoring touch until the TDL for a better upgrade than both

Koivula has 8 pts in 9 games playing in Finland.. they should let him go back to lw

I think the 3rd line will end being dal colle- pageau-wahlstrom

Trotz will definitely start with Leddy-mayfield even though it has the potential to be the worst 2nd pairing in the league.

I'd also like to see him get another look. Puts up a lot of points wherever he goes it seems (even though that probably wouldn't be his role in the NHL), definitely seems like a keeper

If it's Ho-Sang or Bellows they're "rushing," I think we probably have much different definitions of that word haha. I'll take the young guy poison any day, as long as they aren't a complete disaster defensively.

As for Barzal, yeah it's hard to see where he's going to end up. My guess from what has been speculated is that Ladd will go to LTIR, which will give us around $9.5 million to play with, which should be enough to keep him around. I've been using $8.250 MM x 6 in the ACGMs I've made recently. It's around what Aho took (OS, I know but I think that was about what he was worth anyways) and then subtracted a little off because Covid. Idk what the term would be but 6 years seems pretty agreeable, makes him a UFA in the middle of his prime. Honestly, it's more likely we see a bridge deal probably, as Barzal probably gets to make more money that way, but I just can't see him getting much more than $8 million when guys like Laine, Point, Tkachuk, DeBrincat, Werenski and McAvoy all got way, way less for 2-3 years.

I see him as a middle 6 C\W that can put up 15-18 G , 35 pts - and that’s fine. You need guys like that. He’s not a great skater but he has great hockey IQ and good hands. He does a lot of things really well.

This is the goal he scored today.

9 pts in his last 8 games. It would be smart to get him acclimated to the NHL as a lw and then next season he can take over as 4C if they can’t afford cizikas.

He played 12 games at center last season but they put him on a line with komarov and Martin lol - the islander way!

I would doubt we ever see Ho Sang in an isles uni ever again and I would love to see Bellows played more often but the front office just doesn't seem very high on him. That's why I think there may be some younger kid who is "rushed" in the sense of Lou/Barry rather than one of those two. I have a feeling if Ladd doesn't hit LTIR and we move boychuk for less than a first it is picks plus bellows. At this rate who knows when there'll even be another season so no need to rush i guess?
