So we trade 3 of our prospects for 3 worse prospects? Sounds completely reasonable.

Montreal says no, our 3 prospects are better than your 3 prospects and a first will not be enough for Montreal to accept it. Also Primeau is our n1 goalie of the future so we are absolutely not trading him

I agree with alot of what you said, but Carey price is under contract for SIX more years

Waite has basically said that they want Primeau to play in the AHL for about 3 more years. After that he can be a backup for 2 years, and maybe they split starts in the final year.

Yeah leaving Primeau time to develop and not pressing him into a starting role until Price retires, contract expires, gets traded or becomes an LTIR player

Playing devils advocate here but with Chicago officially going into a rebuild that 1st could very well be top 5

Yeah teams that aren’t contenders should never trade a pick before the season starts.

So j7st cause Price has 6 more years on his contract we should give up 3 top prospects for 3 C prospects? Does that mean you will trade Kubalik for Weal cause Kane has 3 years left? Or how about Murphy cause Seabrook has 4 years left? Just cause someone else is signed long term doesn't mean the trade value of their replacement goes down.

No. I was commenting on calling a guy your goalie of the future when you are paying your goalie 10.5 million a year for 6 years.

You can tell I wasn't saying what you are implying I was by me saying "I agree with a lot of what you said" and then only talking about one thing

Yes, although the original trade didn’t include the 1st.

Even still Primeau is our goalie of the future whether Price is signed for 1 year or 6. Price will retire at some point. Even though MB thinks Primeau will be in Laval for 3 more years before moving to Prices backup, I think Primeau will force MB into keeping him in Montreal in 21-22 as a 1B goalie splitting the season with Price.I think MB was speaking strickly from a worst case scenario in terms waiting for Primeau to be ready.

Look, this trade is very lop sided. Teply and Beaudin are definitely not the worst prospects but they aren't our top prospects and the 3 MTL prospects are definitely a hotter commodity currently.
