I’d do that from Detroit. Only costs 250k more in cash and helps us tank next year plus we get a second rounder.

Since you yourself think that Marcus Pettersson is a top-4 defender, a #3C and an AHLer wouldn't be enough to get him.

He is a 4/5. If he has a partner that can lug the mail he can be a 2nd pair guy. If not he is a third pairing guy. Unfortunately the Sabres only have two left shot nhl defenseman under contract so he would be a second pairing dman on their roster. I did this more to see other peoples opinion on acquiring this player. Honestly if the Sabres were to acquire a player for that role I would rather see them go after a player on an expiring contract as he would likely be exposed in the expansion draft anyhow
