Because hes a legitimate top 4 defenseman unlike Hamonic

Also Fox refused to sign with any team but NYR

It doesn't matter who Fox decided to sign with at this point. He has no trade protection and the Rangers could move him anywhere they want. They obviously wouldn't for this package but he has no control where he plays if they ever did decide to move him

Why is it not correct? He's fallen off a cliff hard over the last couple years. Pretty indisputable.

Tanev is still on a similar level to Hjalmarsson and is definitely still a top 4 defenseman.

Hjalmarsson had a pretty bad year this past one in an injury shortened season, but even still, Tanev's defensive impacts don't even approach that of Hjalmarsson's over the past two years.
