Johnson and Palat to NJ

Description
Put McElhinny and Coburn on waivers, if they're picked up then good, if not they head to the minors. I'd be willing to retain their ahl cap hit amounts to trade them since they're vets and would rather see them play in the NHL than be buried in the minors. Johnson and Palat came into the league together and are aparently "best buds" (the media definitely puts their twist in these relationships but let's say they are really close) maybe they'd waive to go to the same team. NJ has a ridiculous 17 million in cap space left, to take on around 8.5 million for two guys who already have chemistry together and can play mutliple positions wouldn't be the worst thing for a team in the middle of a partial rebuild (mix of vets and young guys, not really selling players and the signing of Crow isn't really a rebuild move). I HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA WHAT NJ WOULD SEND BACK BC OF THE SCEWED VALUES IN THIS COVID OFFSEASON AND TAMPA NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE CONTRACTS BACK. Palat has a lot more intangibles over Killorn but Killer's an important locker room guy/culture guy so I think tampa would rather keep him over Palat).

This gives NJ a line that can score and play well defensively. Maybe less draft pick value but it can't be like a 4th rounder for both

A. NJ isn't giving up anything.
B. What is TB sending over to make it worth NJ while?

Not a chance Palat waives for New Jersey...despite the best bud theory. Jersey can fit much better value in two players making 10.2m that Palat and Johnson, so it's a no trade for them...because of Johnsson contract. Even at that still just 20 man roster and no cap. It's the RFAs that have to be traded.

How would this make sense for the Devils? Trading away picks for aging players on not so good contracts while they are rebuilding. This is why you don't know anything about hockey.

you think palat has value? the guy isn't even a 20 goal scorer, is a 30-40 point guy. That's a dime a dozen in the NHL.
If anything he's little more than another cap dump. That ain't convincing them to take on 20 million in cap hit, and 18 million real cash.
You can forget that.
