Ok so I see it like this
Gaudreau > Laine
Hanifin > DeMelo
2nd < Heinola

I think its fairly close actually since I see Heinola as a legitimate top 4 potential prospect. IMO both teams decline

I was pretty much thinking the same thing, just thought it’s as close to a fair trade for Laine/Gaudreau as you can get because both players value seems to be lower than it should (at least on here). Gaudreau>Laine (close to a wash), Hanifin>>Demelo, Heinola>>>2nd, seems to even out pretty well.

Jets all ready have ehlers kinda there gaudreau, and samberg coming on lhd which in turn hopes of being hanifin, jets needs are more size and skill up the middle, and whose to say if gaudreau doesn’t want to return home in free agency which comes faster than laine I believe. So it’s kind of a lateral move in my opinion.

Interesting proposal and not bad but I would rather see what Heinola turns into. This deal could go either way, Laine could absolutely take off this year (he has been training HARD this off season), Heinola is playing very well on Luuko and may very well turn out better than Hannifin and we just resigned DeMelo. It’s hard enough getting FA to sign here let alone trading them right after we have signed them. That would be shooting ourselves in the foot.
Gaudreau would instantly become that playdriving winger we need and would make Pegs T9 one of the best in the league, but is only signed for 2 more yrs and is a UFA. Hannifin is good and would solidify our T4 d core for years, but again, I think Heinola has more upside and can play both sides (not sure if Hannifin can?) and Heinola can QB our PP which we desperately need.
Drafting Perfetti (getting Stasny in the meanwhile) makes our T9 pretty solid, and Heinola and Samberg graduating to pros this year negate the need for moves like this unless it was that big, puck moving RHD we need long term. Great trade idea, but Peg passes.

After this past year, Gaudreau is worth about a 3rd...Thats why Calgary wont trade him this year.

If that’s the case then Laine is also worth a third, maybe a second

Johnny Hockey didn't hit either the 20 goal or 60 point mark this year....his value isn't that high

He doubled Laines point totals the year before though and has outscored him every other year. I’m not a fan of either team so I don’t have a dog in the fight here but you can’t just go off one shortened season when deciding what they’re worth

But this is also why no team will trade for him based on a 99 point season esp with him coming off a bad season
