Craving Rosterbation so Forcing a Cirelli Trade

Description
FLA trade --- Mainly just unloading Donskoi and his contract to a place where he can be a useful player. Borgstrom is specifically to flip in the next trade, as the Avs don't have a place for him (as a DU fan, he'll always have a place in my heart though, lol).

NYR trade --- Similar to the above, just unloading Compher to a place where I think he could fit in nicely. Howden is not very good at this stage of his career, so him and a third for Compher seems reasonably fair.

TB trade --- This is the main goal of the ACGM. Cirelli would be an awesome addition to any team, but especially this one. That "third" line would be extremely valuable and play a ton of minutes against the opponents best. Might even outscore them on a number of occasions.

The destinations are at least somewhat thought out:

-Florida is light on forwards, and Donskoi could be a nice fit in their top 9. They basically get him for a guy that doesn't want to play for their team anymore, and they have both the cap space and roster space.

-The Rangers need help down the middle. Compher provides some immediate assistance and then fills a bottom six role once their prospects develop. Really they should just trade for Cirelli, but if they don't then maybe this makes some sense.

-Tampa obviously doesn't want to move Cirelli but it seems something has to give. Here they get a first, a good prospect who can play this year (Kaut), and a mismanaged reclamation project with pretty nice upside (Borgstrom). They may be able to do better, but they can also certainly do worse.

In the end I don't see this happening. It's fun to look at on paper though.

Isn't the Donskoi contract pretty bad? Or am I thinking about someone else...
If it is, then no way we're giving up a decent prospect and a higher draft pick for him

That's a lot to give up for someone you'd play as your third line center.

He's probably slightly overpaid. That said, he was playing very well before injuries last season and looked as though he would make the contract look great. So it's really debatable as to where that actually stands.

I didn't think I was too greedy in the trade, as Borgstrom (last I heard) seemed as though he'd rather stay in Finland than play for the Panthers.

He would still play a ton of minutes and would allow the Avs to move on from Kadri after his contract. To me this helps ensure the window stays wide open for the next 5-6 years. I hear you though and am sure others have similar criticisms.

I still think I'd decline it. We still don't know how Borg will do in Liiga, he will probably develop better there than in our AHL system (which has proven time after time that it is pretty ineffective)
He still has potential to be a good top 6 guy I think

I think that's a very fair take. While I do feel the compensation is fair, your argument that they would rather bet on Borgstrom's upside is logical. I watched the kid a lot in college and think he could be a guy that just needs to adapt to a tighter checking league. The payoff could be worth the wait if he figures it out.

He's not a possession driver but has a nice shot, is a good option on the pk, and tends to come up with big goals in critical moments. He plays hard and with some grit and by all accounts is a great guy to have in the locker room.

That said, he's also probably overpaid by 750k or so. He would be a below par 2C but a good 3C or RW.

My logic for this trade is that Cirelli makes him redundant. He would be a good presence for a young, up and coming team though (imo).

Why would the Avs give up a 1st and a prospect that could be your 3rd line centre or in your top 6 in the AHL for a bad contract and a 3rd line centre, 000000 sense what so ever

Thanks, and I actually agree on Cole. I think we see a rotation where Cole and Johnson play around 80% of the games, with Timmins filling in to give them a rest every now and then (the goal would be a healthy and rested team going into the playoffs). So really Cole would occupy that spot most of the time, but I put Timmins in just for kicks.

Pretty fun, but Seattle gonna steal a good player the Avs don't want to lose. Going forward, Avs should rent at TDL with no long term commitments
