Severe overpayment for a project like marner. A 2022 3rd should be enough, maybe add niku

Guy must be having a bad day. Being a Sabres fan has likely taken it's toll on him.

Realistically though, that's too much for Marner. In terms of straight up draft pick capital, that's like 5 1st round picks at a minimum.

How is it a robbery if Laine isn't happy in Winnipeg and wants out? Marner has 4 years of team control and is a star player. IMO it's the right move for Winnipeg to make.

I think it's realistically about 4 1sts. Laine, to me, doesn't have as much trade value as Jets fans seem to think that he does because he doesn't seem to want to be in Winnipeg long-term. If he does extend with the Jets long-term, though, I will happily eat my words. This trade assumes, however, that Laine does want out.

I'll give you Troy Terry and a 3rd for Jack Eichel.

Laine has 4 more years of team control and is a star...plus we give up a 1st and last years 1st in Heinola(Who is looking like a steal at 20 OA)...Top it all off, Marner is 2M overpaid

I dont mind a Marner for Laine straight up deal, but MM makes sooo much money, but maybe that's what Laine will make on his next contract.

who knows, but that's what it would take for the leafs to do it. A late 1st and Heinola dont make up the difference between Laine and Marner, especially with Laine getting a big raise soon

lol at Marner being 2 mill over paid. And Laine is going to easily get close to Marner's money in less than a year, despite being just utterly horrific defensively.

100% it makes up the difference lmao heinola is the jets best d prospect and one of the top prospects in the nhl no chance the jets do it either way

Horrific defensively clearly didn’t watch him play last year absolutely lazy narrative.

just because a player is a teams best prospect doesnt mean they are a top value prospect. Heinola is 100% not worth the difference, especially to the leafs who really dont need LHD prospects

Laine will get between 8.5-9.5M like most star wingers...He is currently making less than 7M....

i mean, i did watch him last year, and yes he was horrific. If you think otherwise YOU clearly didnt watch him play (see how dumb that looks when you use it as an argument?)

Dude...Its not that Toronto won't do this, its that Winnipeg wont do it.

Its like saying Toronto will Trade Nylander, 1st and Sandin for Ehlers....Ehlers is better than Nylander but not worth that much

he's currently making 250k less than 7 mill because that's what 2 year deals are like. And if he only gets 2.5 to 1.5ish less than marner well that makes sense because that's about their difference in value.
