Is there really that much of a difference though? I mean just taking a look at it:

Montreal Toronto - Doesnt change

Tampa, Boston, Florida are good teams.
Van, Calgary, Edmonton are good teams too but probably arent as high end as Boston-Tampa is.

Buffalo got better and isnt much worse than Winnipeg right now.

Id say its close to a wash because Tampa is the best team of the bunch and theyre out, but Buffalo is the worst and theyre out.

I think its worse for the Pacific teams. Ducks, Kings, Sharks, Coyotes out, Jets, Leafs Habs, Ottawa in is a much worse tradeoff.

Yes all the Canadian Teams improved and made the playoffs. Detroit isn’t that good, Florida took a step back and don’t have much besides their first line on forward. Buffalo’s strategy is boom or bust it could really backfire tbh. So I could see Ottawa finishing as high as 5 in the Atlantic but I wouldn’t bet on it. But at least there’s a chance
