Why would Savard sign for only 2 years at 4M?? He will want a longer contract and a higher price.

slightly better lol

still, I agree, colombus is giving up a lot of key pieces in most positions in this deal, hard to imagine they come out as a better team with marner than with all these other guys

that's a lot of numbers for a guy who's 53 spots lower in point totals over the last 3 years and a guy who's 52 spots lower in primary assists

marner gets even better the more recent I make the charts too, I'm actually padding Bjorkstrands stats by going back further in time lol. Over 2 years Marner is 5th in points, he's 63rd, Marner is 2nd in primary assists and he's 73rd

This chart makes zero sense. How is it gonna say one guy is significantly worse than the other but his market value is twice as much?

imo I view advanced stats as a tie breaker. In this case, Marner is so astronomically better (and younger too) that they basically don't matter

marner is a top 10 winger, maybe soon to be a top 5 winger. Bjorkstrand is a decent lil guy who could play on the second line, throw some hits, pop in 20-25 goals, 40-50 points - a great player no doubt, on a great contract - but he's not a top 10 winger
