If the Sharks rebuild, you probably have to trade everyone except EK, Ferraro and Meier

Well my rebuilt leftovers look like:

Meier, EK65, Vlasic, Ferraro, Labanc, Simek

      So very similar

Vlasic can’t be moved and Simek + Labanc are useful

I suspect Kings will go 4-4-1 on expansion protection. One of Lizotte, Grundstrom, or Wagner will be taken by Seattle.

Roy might eventually get traded, but it's not going to be next year. He's going to be on the roster for another 2-3 seasons.

If the Kings do draft Brandt Clarke, he likely won't crack the lineup in year one.

I assume the Ovechkin contract is an exaggeration. Assuming he doesn't want to finish his career in Washington (a big assumption), I could see a team giving him a 2 year deal for $7-8M.

I think they need to give Suomela an 8 year deal at 1 mill per

I'd be willing to give 5 to 1 odds that all of Andersson, Clague and Roy are on the roster at the start of the 2021-2022 season.

I don’t think they’re gonna be bad enough this coming season to have 1st overall and I highly doubt they’ll get Ovechkin, but I guess you never know!

Kings will likely be just as bad if not a little better than last season.

Ovechkin said he won't play for any other NHL team, but if he signed with the Kings I'd be so pumped!

I'd let Walker walk to Seattle before I'd trade Roy tbh.

I really hope the Kings get Clarke.

If Frk has a good season he'd also be a decent option for Seattle.

I don't think Seattle will take a 28-year old on a league minimum contract with only a year remaining before UFA. That would be a mistake. If he puts up 35-40g, then maybe Seattle would be interested, but if that's the case then I suspect the Kings would protect him over Clague anyway.

If I were Francis and the expansion draft were today, I would take Blake Lizotte.

Letting them take Lizotte is a mistake. I rather protect Lizotte than Walker. Or trade Walker before hand then protect Lizotte.

Defensemen are more valuable than forwards on the expansion market. We saw that with Vegas. Vegas took the required number of forwards and goaltenders, then took defensemen with all of the remaining elective picks. A second-pairing defenseman has significantly more value than a bottom-six forward.

Additionally, with Walker's freshly signed team-friendly contract, he's likely not going anywhere anytime soon. The Kings would trade Roy (his contract expires next summer) before they traded Walker.

Due to his potential upside and what they gave up to get him, I think the Kings would protect Andersson over Lizotte right now, but that could change based off each player's performance this coming season. If Andersson has a rough year in Sweden and Lizotte has another quality season, it's possible that the Kings choose to protect Lizotte over Andersson with their final forward protection slot. So far Anderssen has 6 points in 8 games (he missed 5 games due to a suspension) with HV71 in the SHL.
