Landing Hertl at Deadline

Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 17, 2020
Published: Nov. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Lindbom, Olof [Reserve List]
  2. Lundkvist, Nils [Reserve List]
  3. Strome, Ryan
  4. 2021 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
- Strome's an acceptable temporary fill-in for Hertl. Could flip him for more assets if the appetite is there.
- Blue-chip defensive prospect for Lulea in the SHL. Elite level skating and offensive skills. Rounding out his game this season to make a major impact in 2021-22.
- I noticed SJ has issues in net and not anyone notable G prospects other than Melnichuk whom I'n not high on and don't understand the hype. Lindbom is not a world beater but he's got the skillset to be a good goaltender.
2.
NYR
    - Future Considerations.

Its not a bad base, but to be honest if the rangers are in a position to get Hertl, then we dont want this package. The first would have to be pretty high and it wouldnt be

Do you think some lottery team is going to pursue Hertl? Only a real contender makes this trade.

Damn good offer. Not sure how to feel about Lundkvist and Lindbom though. I know Lund is good, but I don’t know what Lindbom’s projection is.

Probably would take this to be honest. Despite my love for Hertl this is probably too good to turn down.

We have one of the best Goalie coaches in the NHL. Look at the players we passed on in 2018 for Lindbom.

Lundkvist is going to be a great offensive defenseman. He's not scared of bigger competition either. Great motor. You'd love him.

As a Ranger fan I think Wall is a better prospect than Lindbom and would make more sense for SJ.

No, but I dont like Lund enough to be the centerpiece to this deal. I would want someone like Newhook

Well thats fair, but then we wont really deal Hertl. Hes a legit top six center who is capable of scoring 80 points. If you put him with Panarin, people would be saying you ripped the sharks off for years

Just how these trades work. Nobody is likely to offer anyone on his level for him.

Mark Stone got a very nice package. JG pageau got a package well more than what he was worth. These things happen
