I like the idea a lot (Kane to his hometown + to a competitive team = he more than likely accepts too so it can work).

But it'll cost a 1st just for VAN to rid themselves of Eriksson. That leaves Lind Brisebois and a 2nd for Kane. Sweeten up that latter part of the deal with instead of that package with a grade-A prospect (Juolevi, Hoglander, maybe Madden+Lind) or another 1st. Not asking for Vasili, but needs a little more quality in the package.

Interesting and original, I like it. Kane checks boxes the Canucks need right now, top 6 forward and toughness.

The move does create some challenges for next offseason, but if they bridge Petey and Hughes this could certainly work.

I’d say the Eriksson dump will probably cost at least a 1st and Brisebois and Kane’s value is definitely more than Lind and a 2nd.

It’s close but not really close enough. Could be worse.

Sharks decline. The conversation starts with Podkolzin if youre dumping LE on us.

Kane's contract isn't fantastic by any means either. This is more a move of "nobody has cap, if you want to move Kane you better be prepped to take something back". These type of cap moves are irrelevant. Especially with only two seasons of a bad contract. Many of times large cap hit players have another sizable contract go the other direction without any affect to the overall value.

You're right about Vancouver probably having to dump cap the other way, but while Kane's contract isn't good, he's actually worth what he's getting paid at the moment - and his term isn't awful either. We're not moving Kane to move cap, we'd be doing it to get good return back because he still holds good value. If Eriksson was actually a useful player with only one year left, you might have a point, but unfortunately he isn't so they're still gonna have to pay a considerable sum to dump him.

I can't see Benning moving Pod or Hog.
