Even if Owen Power is in the Dahlen, Ekblad category, theres still no reason to bring him up to play in the NHL. The Sharks are going to be bad for awhile, as seen with the high pick to get this Dahlin/Ekblad level defenseman. Power isnt going to change that and having him in the NHL just burns his ELC years for little gain while hurting their draft position.

They have no choice but to try and keep being as competitive as possible. Karlsson, Burns, Couture, Vlasic and Kane are going to be declining (more) soon

Yep and they have among the worst prospect pools in the league. Its time for the Sharks to be patient and accept their fate. Be bad, wait out the contracts and rebuild that pool. The more they fight it, the worse their rebuild will be.

There’s no really out waiting those contracts

Sure there is, Detroit's current rebuild would be the model for it. Its been long, its been slow but its going to end well.

Once cap starts to clear, they can start retaining/trading some of these guys.

Minus Bergmann who is just okay imo, those bottom 2 lines are (excuse my French) orgasmic.

Would love power too he looks like a really special talent. My guess is we don't actually end up being a top 5 draft lotter candidate though. At the moment, this team looks too bad to be a real contender, but also too good to suck as bad as we did last year barring injuries. I have no clue what will happen in the upcoming year.

The good thing is that this draft is wide open and very deep at C and LD. Edvinsson, Lambos, Hughes are all projected in the 5-12 range and could be top pairing guys.

That's true. Definitely would not complain if we picked up someone you mentioned. Finding a good guy to pair with Karlsson would be awesome too.
