In one way or another, I knew a part of it was gonna be redoing Marner's contract

This team most likely makes a deep playoff run, the forwards are unbelievable and the d is much improved. I look question is the goaltending, idk if they can withstand a deep playoff run

Adding more star forwards at the sacrifice of star defense and goal is pretty silly imo

What are you gonna lose as a penalty for circumventing the salary cap with Marner?

Typical Leafs team, hype up their fans and get eliminated in the 1st round is what I see here, bottom 6 forwards aren't good enough, too many offensive minded players in that d core, and Crawford's time as a contending goaltender has past long ago

What is wrong with redoing Marner’s contract? Most people believe he’s more than his value.

Thanks for the feedback. I think Crawford is still an elite goaltender when healthy, he led the league in high danger save percentage. Behind a strong defence that can protect him I believe it’ll be alright.

That’s fair. I would consider Lafreniere, Hall, Hyman, Mikheyev & Simmonds all as heavy players, so I think they’ve got enough to beat tight defensive teams.

So basically, I traded Nylander for Theodore, Robertson & Sandin for Lafreniere and a 1st for Severson. Hall is signed as a UFA in hindsight.

I’m curious to know why you think the defence and goaltending is weak? Theodore and Severson are an upgrade over their current right side (Brodie & Holl). Crawford is an upgrade on Andersen.

Nylander was probably better this past season but the past 3 in total, Hall was superior. We need to keep him mind that Nylander gets to play alongside Matthews whereas Hall had to play with Zajac & Soderberg, yet he still produced at similar if not higher rates.

Besides Morgan Rielly, the rest of the defence corps are known for being strong 2 way players. Crawford led the league in high danger save percentage last season, so IDK where you are getting your information from?

you wanna know some fun facts

Leafs could have had Hart/Freddie tandem but Lou thought Woll was the future. While there is always the possibility Woll comes up and becomes a beast Hart would have made the freddie problem irrelevant. As Dubas would let freddie go and sign a good cheap backup.
