Jones a very talented player; no doubt about that. But his on-ice impact just doesn't reflect that of some of his peers, who I think you'd put ahead of him.

In fairness, we all know CBJ isn't great offensively, which I do think hurts Jones to a certain extent. But I wouldn't say it's enough to put him in my top 20

Obviously there’s a lot of subjectivity for lists and players. I think jones’ stats say he’s good. But the eye test does a lot. The two real ways we judge players right.

His stats aren’t mind blowing - but he’s also a more defensive player (on a defensive team as you said) and still puts up good points. Jones is a player where I say the eye test is when he shines. He’s just such a good player to watch in the sense that you always see good/ greatness (you could probably find a clip of a mistake but in the handful [10-20] games I see of Jones a year I can’t recall a single mistake - compared to my team where I may watch more games but I clearly remember mistakes my defenders make even a couple years ago). Jones is just fantastic as well as when you look at the jackets this past year - they dealt with a ton of injuries and lost man games. But they faired well all year - except when they lose Jones (which also could be categorized as a “stat). When they lost Jones, if I recall the lines in the article I saw them in, they didn’t do well at all.
