Alternative: do the offer sheet (I think it’s a good idea), pay to move Moore, and sign debrusk.

Nick Ritchie will probably be in the AHL, so theres some more cap savings.

I don’t think theres any chance Miller or Moore are in the top six.

Very interesting idea that would help keep Boston's window open.

I get you gotta clear $/have enough cap space but no way you move DeBrusk without replacing him. Ritchie is a 4th liner, he can't skate and Bjork is a 3rd liner right now. Waive Moore, Miller, Wagner before doing that. They added Smith for secondary scoring and Bruins management know the team need more offensive production. So this would bring them back to where they were at the end of their season. Sergachev would really help but he would also cost too much.

Indeed but teams also signed Cody Ceci, Jack Johnson, Joel Edmundson and traded for Erik Gudbranson this offseason so anything can happen. I'm not expecting it to happen though.

waiting until after everyone resigned their own players and then went through UFA to try and dump money is....not likely

A team taking on a less than ideal contract for assets is a very common concept in the NHL. Far worse contracts than John Moore have been moved very easily.

yes. those trades were already made, before teams signed UFAs, before teams signed their own players and before covid destroyed the nhls financial well being.

and we're back to or they could just move john moore... even so... marchand and pastrnak starting the season on ltir... soooo they dont need to move debrusk to be able to afford sergachev as they have plenty of cap right now.

Pre Covid. also, 1.25 years left at time of the trade, not 3.

Do you think a number 6 d man at 2.75 for 3 years is a completely unmovable contract?

Boston or any team can offer sheet Sergachev. He still has to sign it. Boston can't make him sign it. Sergachev obviously wants to stay in Tampa. He'll re-sign there eventually.

Even if Sergy accepts that offer I think TB will match it. They're allowed to be 10% over the cap during the offseason so technically they can do it, but boy would they be in trouble afterwards.

How do they save themselves from 6.5 mil though? I dont see it. 5 mil yeah thats easy enough but Cirelli and Serg with this would be like 12 mil

They'd probably trade Cirelli by that point.

Honestly imo re-signing Sergachev is priority number one. There's a top pairing D coming and he's only 22.

No matter what happens they're still in trouble, but the very last thing they should allow to happen is letting their most promising player to leave for their most dangerous division rival for a measly compensation.

Was gonna post this earlier but was busy and now that Debrusk signed I doubt he's going anywhere but I'll give my $0.02 on this idea anyway, I'm not a Bruins fan or all that high on Debrusk and I get the Bruins need a LHD but how can they trade Debrusk to offersheet Sergachev with their wings being as weak as they are already, this makes little sense unless the Bruins can open up a bunch more cap space by trading say Ritchie, Moore and someone else to sign Hoffman but moving those guys is easier said than done, Sergachev is great but this isn't a very good idea for Boston imo.
