I expect Jesper Bratt to sign a similar deal in the coming weeks. DeBrusk has better numbers, but Bratt is 2 years younger.

Honestly I think this is a team friendly deal. He has potential to break out and be 30 goal guy.
He hasn't hit it yet though and well, so goal guys get the 3-3.5 range. So he's right about there. 2 years because he's betting on himself in those 2 years.
I'm not sure that's a great bet though. That team is getting old, and they don't have the prospects to help. So their ability to stay competitive is gonna fall off in that 2 years probably.

no I don't think so, but PIT still has a logjam on the left side developing.
Dumo and Petey are solid in the top-4, matheson is fine on the 3rd pair with potential to get alot better, POJ can probably make the team this year and by next year maybe grow into a top-4 role, and Riikola has been great whenever he's played in a 3rd pairing role.

Hopefully you learned a lesson about how unpredictable contract signings can be. You were incredibly wrong about DeBrusk and Grz. How many times did you comment on my Bruins ACGMs about me signing those guys around 3.75? Even after I had to explain to you that Bruins players usually take team friendly deals... All the more reason to take your comments with a grain of salt.


Before you start pounding your chest that your right, have a look at term here.

Its 2 years, I highly doubt that DeBrusk would have signed for 5 years at the AAV of 3.75 million.

Debrusk's analytics are very good, They could've gave him 1 year at 7 Million and it would still be a favorable contract.

That's a lot for a guy who hasn't broken 50 points and isn't great in the defensive zone.

Well if he proves himself to be a 7M player in 2 years this contract is okay but I highly doubt it.

Right now as a 40 point player, he's not worth 7M.

Point production is like 1/5th of what you should take into account when it comes to judging a player.
