What does NJD do to replace to replace Severson though? Niku is bad, Roslovic and the 1st are nice, but it just makes a bigger hole on the blueline.

Laine would have to score a lot of goals to get that.

I get what you’re saying... but NJD is in no position to compete so the hole in the blue line doesn’t matter as much to their team as it does to someone like Winnipeg who is able to compete.

I think Roslovic goes to the Kraken instead of Berdin and Appleton tbh. That's just my take on this whole thing.

New coach Dave Lowry, your probably not wrong with the resign theory. Probably a stupid question but how much of an upgrade is severson at 4 million. Laine blockbuster will hopefully look like a win somehow as long as the draftpicks are hit. Your my optimist gauge, so don’t lose your glass is half full.

I'm not an optimist at all and especially when it comes to the Jets so I don't know where you got that from?.. Lol

How much of an upgrade is Severson on what?

I can't see any way that trading Laine could be a win, the only Laine trade the Jets win is no Laine trade.

First of all, niku isn’t trash. Imo he will easily become a top 4 d-man, just not with the jets. As said above, the devils are still at least a 1-2 years away from competing, by which time severson will almost be out the door (unless he resigns). This way you get a potential replacement in niku, and a future top 6 forward and a 1st.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed 😂.

I’m still being hopeful. Imo, just because the jets were shopping him doesn’t mean they will move him. All reports have only confirmed that. Hopefully either Maurice plays him with schiefele or laine realizes he needs a playmaking centre (ie stastny bounces back) more than scheifele

Lowry will likely be brought back and copp moved. Though maybe not since copp is a bigger part of the room. That said, if we can bring stastny back, Lowry is out the door imo.

It’s 8 years. Rantanen signed about 9.5 for 6 and doesn’t score as much. Laine has really rounded out his game and a bounce back in the goal scoring department will surly get him 10 if it’s 8 years

I traded Roslovic here way before the expansion draft. We protect harkins instead. Imo, the jets trade Roslovic before losing him for nothing in the expansion.

Dave Lowry is a guru for special teams and getting the best out of young skill players imo. Should really help on that front. As for Adam Lowry, yeah ur probably right.

As you probably already know, I am a big severson fan. I consider him a number 2 d-man. So to answer your question, he would be a very big upgrade and would set us up well for the future and the present. And at 4 million? Lovely

I understand your reasoning, but you are overvaluing both Niku and Roslovic. Niku is 24 and can't crack a weak blueline in WPG and Roslovic hasn't really shown much at the NHL level yet that makes me think he'll be anything more than a 3rd liner -- sure he's stuck behind some really good forwards in WPG, but he got 5 extra minutes average TOI this year as opposed to last year and didn't do much of anything with the extra ice time.

It will matter to their fans & owners who will have plenty of tough questions for the GM about competitiveness. If its not an overpay for Severson, it will get difficult quickly, particularly for a guy who was a Shero disciple & had a hand in last years mess there.

Lol niku did crack our weak blueline last year, until he got injured. Then we brought in demelo and we’re in a win now mode. Niku didn’t play when he came back healthy after the tdl because he has a lot of growing pains right now and he shouldn’t be playing in the final 10 games of the season.

As for Roslovic, he has shown enough to be considered a lock for a top 6 job sometime in the future. He was our second best forward in the playin round this year. As for the 5 extra minutes, over the last year Roslovic has gone from being a decent third liner to almost dominating other 3rd lines. In fact, the fact that Maurice gave Roslovic that ice time proves how much he has developed. Production doesn’t tell the whole story, especially in the case of development.

I’m sure if the devils don’t see Roslovic as a future top 6 player and niku as a top 4 (if he can stay healthy), the jets will find someone who will.

Yeah, I really like Roslovic’s potential but at the same time we need a guy like severson. Really hope chevy makes a move for him.

Crazy the scale that severson seems to fall on this site, from hugely overpaid pilon to absolute bargain. I haven’t seen him play much, so know real opinion. Would be nice to add some size on that blueline, being relatively close to home, maybe there’s a longterm fit. Lowry has been in a bunch of time in the whl, so I never mind the add off the buses, probably rather keen and hungry to make his Mark. Fingers crossed for another run.

They are rebuilding and having Severson doesn't really fit their timeframe. the package is decent and makes NJ worse, but isnt that what you want?
