Broberg and Lagesson is probably too much already. Why would you trade jones and a 1st round pick too? Tampa needs to get rescued from cap hell your first offer is Lagesson and a 1st.

I think Broberg with 3 years at $895k + a 1st has much more value than Sergachev - especially when BriseBois is backed into a corner.

Fair enough to debate the values in the trade, wanted to start high to see what people thought. Personally, for the McDavid and Drai window being probably 4-5 years guaranteed, I want to make sure the D is the best it can be for that time. Sergachev will be better than Broberg for the next 3 seasons guaranteed, I would say. And Klef may never be the same. So I would do Broberg for Sergachev, and add a bit. Now, how much to add? Lagesson is added just to make roster room and give Tampa a bottom pair guy this season. The picks are dependant on perspectives. Of course I'd like no picks involved, but I felt a 1st for a 2nd might be seen as balanced from my Oilers biased perspective. But perhaps the Oil just send a 3rd or something. All debatable.

FYI, the Jones thing is to Seattle in the ED as I wrote in his transaction. Just has Tampa as the default that I used in the first trade. I'd expose both Klef and Jones if Klef is out all year and his health is still a little unclear. If Klef comes back, then a trade is likely, for a goalie or a bona fide top line winger.

I don't see a scenario where they expose both. Kris russell is signed for next year to satisfy expansion requirements. They get to protect at least 3 dmen so Nurse, Jones, Bear. On Defense only Klefbom and Lagesson other than Russell can be taken because everyone else is a free agent or exempt.

I would also trade Broberg for Sergachev I think? if he can be a number 1 Dman.

Obviously right now (and if Klef is still an unknown with health come the ED), Jones is protected along with Nurse and Bear. If Klef comes back for playoffs and is great, then we're probably exposing Jones or some decent forwards anyway as it is. But, if we were to make a trade like this for Sergachev, if we had Nurse and Sergachev on LHD, losing one of Klef or Jones to the ED really wouldn't matter. Obviously if Jones were to really progress on the season, then I might look to move Nurse for cap reasons for a goalie or a bonafide top line winger (packaged with Pulju or Kahun for example). I just like the options this trade would give the Oil.

For sure it does, thus why I advocate a 2nd coming back and a cap dump in Chiasson to balance it out, with Lagesson being a bottom pair roster filler who we'd have to send to Bake anyway. Pick values are hard to gage of course.

Nurse won't stay past free agency anyway. Somebody would pay him 6.5 Million and if it's in the right market the oil would have to pay 7.5 million to compete. He's not great at defence the only good thing is he can transport the puck and is tough to play against down low.

I agree. If things stay as they are, Broberg will likely be capable of second pair minutes once Nurse is UFA, and re-signing Nurse may not make a lot of cap sense. Another good reason to make this trade. Sergachev takes Nurse's spot (playing like a better game overall at Nurse's age), and Nurse can be traded for another need like I said.
